Rising like a phoenix after the year from hell. Why the f$&k not. That would be a great Collingwood story, but many would say that the double belongs to Grundy. :)

Two words for you my good man.............................

NORM

SMITH.

Beams is good but is definitely overrated on this board. Cloke, Pendlebury and Swan are all clearly better and I'd argue that Ball is more important as well. I give him 0% chance of getting more brownlow votes than Pendlebury or Swan. He could do pretty good in the Copeland though.

Overrated, perhaps, but I'll have a few Bucks on him for a Brownlow / Norm double. And Bucks was capitalised for a reason:)

Honestly in just a little more time, if he can steer uninterrupted.. I think he could be better then Swan.

(Waits for abuse)

Beams better watch his rear view mirror, as the dark horse Josh Thomas is comin' up real fast. Beams himself said that Thomas is a better player. 2014 will be mega breakout year for JT I reckon.

He is nothing like Swan in his play. Does no one recognize the explosive pace that Swan has that Beams certainly does not? Nevertheless, a very good player, who could well do some Brownlow damage, even if the award is not that relevant to the team.

Good player but like to see him mature as a leader.

He has grown up a bit since he 1st came as the club. Remember the 1st few seasons when he been spotted a few times over the Pre-Season in his 1st few years was seen out late Drunk.

He Grown up last few years after that

If Pendles was not such a good player I think Beams may well have been made captain. We missed him so much last season, good inside and finishes well,he may lack Swanny,s pace but has more hardness in his game.As TD said he has matured so much over the last 2 or 3 seasons as to be a totally different player and more importantly man from what he was.
I think Beams will do a bit of damage this season and I think JT will be right alongside him, there were so good signs from Josh in his 1st season and I think after having to wait so long with injuries he will make up for lost time.

I think we will have a great midfield this season and if Trav kicks straight and the defence holds up we may surprise a few people, not me though I prefer to be positive.

People are quick to forget his 2012 season.

We grew too used to his consistent performances that season and missed his steadying influence when he was out injured.

One of the reasons he gets overrated is because he's a Copeland winner. He had an excellent 2012 and was excellent when he came back in 2013 but even with that form he was not in the top 4 players at the club (Thomas, Pendlebury, Cloke and Swan all better, arguably Reid as well) yet people on this board talk about him as the second coming of Christ. As I said above he's a good player but a superstar of the game he is not, however if it it makes you feel better hurling abuse at what I think is a pretty reasonable opinion then continue.

I am not going to be abusive to anybody but I definitely think that Beams has left D Thomas in his wake.
To say that Thomas is better is certainly not supported by the evidence,we have to go back 3 seasons for Thomas,s best and that is a long while.
It matters not that Beams won the Copeland which was entirely deserved and his form has been better than Reid also,FF you are guilty yourself of giving Thomas a higher ranking than Beams when clearly the the gap between the 2 grows bigger all the time.
I will agree with you that Beams has not equaled Thomas,s 2011 form but neither has Thomas and I think he has less chance of equaling it than Beams.

I also think That most supporters of other teams would prefer Beams over Thomas so it is not just a Collingwood choice because he won the Copeland it is because he HAS become better than Thomas of which there is almost universal agreement.

Beams showed in his few games last season just how badly we missed him and how good he had become and I expect him to widen the gap even further on Thomas this season.
