It really does, even a heap of dialgue between Matrix and Bennett was cut. Goes straight from 'let the girl go' to 'I DONT NEED A GUN! ILL DO YOU WITH A KNIFE' which in any other movie would sound strange but you can just get away with it in Commando.

No joke though it does concern me. TV seems to be progressing less and things swinging back more conservative.

Recycling old talking points but I knew how awesome the film was (family had the vhs copy when growing up).

Jump forward to the 2000s.... I got it on DVD, didn't realise it was censored (there's only a few seconds missing here and there, but being used to seeing everything... I found the edits very jarring).

To my surprise (late ish 2000s 20th century fox were releasing definitive editions of various properties (eg: x-men, die hard originally were released as 2 disc editions in the early 2000s... mid 2000s they were phased out for cheaper single disc releases). And Commando was one of them, even better disc 1 was the censored version and disc 2 had the directors cut/uncut release OH HAPPY DAY.

I went through a similar ordeal with the bluray, I had to buy it and still did knowing it was the edited version. But I imported the unedited version years later, oh and have it digitally as well now.

Watched it last night. Still as good as ever with the over-the-top action and one-liners. My favourite is still the "Don't disturb my friend, he's dead tired" because of the deadpan delivery. But one that goes overlooked to an extent is the one just after he kills Sully and Cindy asks what happened to him and Arnie replies "I let him go."

I completely forgot Bill Paxton has a cameo in it as well.
