The only reason he would go to another team is to develop youth and that makes him a perfect fit for Gold Coast.

Johnson has coaching ambitions, whichever club he goes to he will want to coach at. So yes, developing young players IS something he is interested in.

No one will want him though, think about it, maybe Richmond for a season, North Melbourne, some middle-tier team, they'd rather spend there money on younger players and developing them, not a washed up hack that is of little to no value now.

Johnson is an unrestricted free agent and so it is unlikely that GC would trade for him. Bennell has said he wants to go to WA so I'm not sure why he'd agree to be traded to Adelaide in order to help a club who just sacked him to acquire a player that they could pick up as a free agent anyway.

So this simply isn't very believable.

Dangerfield to Geelong
Stevie J & Geelong 2nd round pick to Gold Coast
Bennell & Geelong Pick 9 to Adelaide
Shuffle of later picks also being discusses as sweeteners.

Heard this is pretty close to a done deal.
