Haven't seen Vickery kick any 65m+ goals. Usually gets cheapies 30m or closer to goal.
Vickery has taken less contested marks this year then Ben.
Neither had dominated but I feel Ben has played better this year and has more upside.

Griff has played 2 good games in how many games? 32 odd? 6% good games....hmmm

TV has played 87 games. Kicked bags of 4 in 5 games (including 2 in his third season), bags of 3 in 6 games. Now goals aren't the only story but if it's between Griff and TV as a forward.... well TV has been at the club for 1 more season, played 50 more games for 84 more goals. TV also played early in his career as a ruck, not a forward, so don't roll out the Griff in defence argument....

At the same age, TV had better stats in almost all categories than Griff, except for tackles. All the important ones, goals, possies, hitouts, marks inside 50, rebound 50's, equal in contested marks, .1 higher on clangers..... the list goes on....

Griff has shown a bit of late.... in the last 2 or 3 games.... no problem with that and personally I think he's important to our list. However there is no doubt Vickery has been better as a forward, at least equal as a ruck and has had more pronounced impact in a higher % of games than Griff.... no doubt whatsoever.

I also have no doubt that TV's crap games are the very equal of Griff's crap games and neither of them are AFL standard when they are playing without intensity.....

I'd keep both and play both against teams it is likely to exploit...

PS. I'd pay a bit overs to keep Griff at this time..... I'd also keep TV.

Mmmm. Maybe if Griff had been given the same opportunities as Tramps in the early years then his stats may have stacked up a little better.
I am not saying Griff is a superstar but I have the feeling that we will rue the day we let him go.

Who is letting him go? We reportedly have had a contract in front of him since June..... If Griff leaves it will be because he wants to go not because we want him to go.....

Griff didn't have the same opportunities early days because his body couldn't stay healthy and his form didn't warrant games.... it was on him, no-one else. He has finally realised he needs to make something of himself and is playing accordingly. I can't wait for him to repay the faith and sign on to play great footy for the Tigers.... it'll be exciting.

You can quote all the stats you like, but I go to the football and I watch players carefully. Vickery, despite his goal hauls, has an ordinary football brain. His handballs often put players under pressure, especially up the ground. When you watch Griffiths, he just seems to do things much more naturally. He seems to have a better footy brain. His kicking is a weapon that allows us to go over opposition defensive zones.
The biggest gripe I have with Griff is he doesn't get the ball often enough and doesn't demand it from his team-mates.
Although his numbers may be poor, he stands up in crunch situations. This year alone I can remember 3 or 4 occasions where we have won the game directly as a result of him standing up at the right time. With 34 second to go in the last quarter against Carlton he took a match saving mark in the backline. His subsequent booming kick leads to Dusty kicking the sealer. Even on the weekend he kicked that ball from the centre which landed in the goal square and Gordon put us back in front. He passed it to Maric to seal the game against Essendon the week before too. My eyes do not deceive me when I see someone doing these things.

I too go to the football and watch players.... Griff does not have a mean bone in his body.... he has to force himself to be aggressive, it has not and I doubt ever will come naturally to him.

Do not think for a moment though that I am trying to be overly critical of Griffiths in favour of Vickery.... I think there is a spot for both of them in the team and on the list and I really want to keep Griff for what he may become. Make no mistake though.... he isn't there yet.

You are drawing a long bow to say he won the Carlton match.... he took a 3rd up mark because his teammate engaged the Carlton player not allowing him to compete... You need to watch around the ball too, not just at the ball ;), go and watch it again with a different lens....

The failure of players to bring the ball forward allowed Thomas and Foley to get it over the back.... they then got the ball to Martin...
Who kicked the goal that put us a goal up in that last qtr after a quick reflex interception and goal after Sheds tried hard to bugger it all up.... yep, Vickery.

Vickery has stood up far more regularly than Griff has in his time at RFC.... so he should have too, he's played more games, probably because he can keep his body fit and healthy and possibly prepares better than Griff.... I'm not sure.

Also the sealer to Maric???? C'mon, he kicked it into the forward line with 15 secs to go and we were 12 points up.... that game was well and truly sealed.... to suggest otherwise would be fanciful.

Look I like Griff, but TV has delivered more to date and at a greater % than Griff has so far.... hopefully they both improve and become great players for the RFC. They play different roles and could complement each other and JR well....
