Interim coach is moot really at this point. Its not like have any gameplan to follow. You could have the brunette from the club shop as interim coach and it wouldnt make much difference.
If said Brunette is good looking and wears a skimpy outfit our TV viewing figures could go up with lots of crosses to the coaches box when we play like shit. MILF CAM!

If it's true that Matthew Primus is no longer coach, then this is no surprise whatsoever after yesterday's humiliation.

I backed Primus from the start, as I did with M. Williams because I thought that they were good appointments for where we were at those respective times.

M.Williams is a premiership coach and I thank him as a Port supporter. M.Williams became bigger than the club and I condemn him and the administrators for allowing this to happen and then to continue happening.

M.Primus was always passionate and always gave his all to the club as a player and as a coach. M.Primus would be unconsolable at what has transpired, if indeed he is no longer the coach and I want to thank him for giving it his best shot.

all though we would like to , we cant Kull every player. Boak needs to stay, a fresh approach could revitalize him, same as Hartlett Jacobs Wingard, a new out look will do wonders I believe

Also, if this team comes out next week and plays good footy (lets face it, we will lose to the Hawks), but competes in a way that they have not at most times this season, then it points to the fact the players wanted Primus out.

AND that they need to be next out the door
while they are right, they don't have the luxury to make that decision, thus they are another cancer and need to go too

I honestly and I know I am probably going to get shot down saying this but don't think Primus is the sole cause of the problems, a lot falls on the players and their professionalism also.

Power I think most everyone agrees with you
Primus is unquestionably not the sole cause of this
It was a Choco inheritance (but Primus was mids and rucks coach lets not forget), lack of department, some real talentless duds like cripps, rodhe, falloon there, skype laidley too
a useless spineless board
but yeah, the players aren't good either, by and large

at the end of the day however, he is simply a really bad coach, and yesterday was his judgment, hence he has to go, voluntarily or delibaretly

I pray that whatever Rehn does over the coming 4 weeks has no bearing on his suitability for the senior coaching role and instead only serves to determine whether he can remain as an assistant coach who understands and appreciates the direction we need to take.

In fact, I hope above all hopes Rehn and the club clearly state his only intention is to spend the remaining 4 weeks settling the group so they are prepared for the arrival of the new senior coach.

Actually we need him to make a statement such as drop a lot of players and simply not select them again this season

Westhoff, Trengove, D Stewart, Chaplin, Cassisi, (+ 2 of Logan, Thomas and Kane- love tge 3 of them but whats the point)

and say Carlisle is dropped, not omitted injured

and state JMac, Pfeiffer and Redden won't come into consideration this season

give Rodan and Salopek and the others who accept their fate a farewell game in Adelaide

the incoming coach will broom a lot of players as well i hope. and let duds like worsthoff know they aren't going to be played in 2013 so they might as well go now

My mail is that the decision was made weeks ago to not reappoint Primus. That might indicate why our players have been so flat the last 2 weeks. Why play for your coach if you hear rumours he isn't going to be around.

as i said 4 weeks ago
sadly the victory we had against whoever it was didn't help and delayed it
it was this week or next week anyway

but no, the issue with the players isn't a message. they_really_are that bad Russ. these guys knew their_own_career is on the line, never mind Primus. I understood 10 points vs 54, that could have been a message

rolling over and dying like they did in the 4th was just too typical.

that really was them

BRING BACK JACK

i know that is flippant

but i have a thought, for the last game of the season, when we do a testamonial for kane, dom, rodan and one or 2 others (hopefully westhoff sadly logan or thomas most likely) would it hurt to have him transition the players with a gig in the box?

its a poisoned chalice for Rehn.

we are going to go external to the club

the last time we were successful was when Cahill handed it over to Choco.

Its symbolic. I know he doesnt have the game day nous, but truth be told the players don't have a clue anyway and neither did Primus.

Would it hurt to enter the psychological "this is port" into their heads before we hand them to the new coach for delisting. pre season?

Who would be willing to take over at as coach? What are our chances of picking up someone decent?
We had a chance to PICK UP SOMEONE DECENT BEFORE....but as i said before we went for the Cunningham's discount option, also as i have said before this board is not doing the best for the club all they are doing is LOOKING AFTER THERE OWN INTERESTS .
Sack Primus yes but don't forget to sack our current board along with him as they are more to blame than anyone for our current position.

My mail is that a meeting was held this morning and Primus was told he was not going to be coach next year. Port asked him to stay on for the rest of the year but he declined. Rehn will be announced as the interim coach..

My mail is pretty similiar to yours except Primus was told he could walk right now or be sacked as he wouldnt be coaching us next year. I feel sorry for the poor bastard as he bleeds Black, White and teal.. just wished more of our players did.

Subbed.

Wanting to know who will be on the panel for the new coach.

If true, Primus deserves thanks for trying to get Port Adelaide out of the rut. Unfortunately for Primus and us, he isn’t capable of that at this stage of his career.
Port Adelaide until recently had certainly done better than in 2011 - they’ve already improved by two wins on their three-win season - and one terrible loss to a Greater Western Sydney team that had been thrashed by an average of 123 points in its previous five games is no reason to sack Primus unless the Power is failing entirely to develop its future talent and is becoming dependent on relics of its golden age from 2001 to 2004.

I have never had a serious look at the talent they do have this year, but for a while the improvement on such losses as they had last year to Collingwood and Hawthorn with a combined total of thirteen scoring shots in two hundred minutes of football was refreshing.

Fun hypothetical:

The club has not officially announced anything. Tomorrow we wake up to find that Primus has the full support of the board. "We strongly believe the Matty is leading the club in the right direction, in spite of recent disappointments." Logan tweets that he's just watched a great movie on television.

Maybe Gotch said no? If I wanted to job proper I would take the caretaker role.

I still think Malthouse could be possible, it's in his blood it may be a challenge he craves
Pretty sure Mick has said in the past if he where to coach again and it's a big if.
He would only do so to a Melbourne based team so that he could be close to his grandchildren

I'd put my membership in the microwave.

Also noted in the article the whole Boak is reconsidering again and potentially putting off discussions. Actually first time i've seen the article so may have been in it previously o_O.

I'd put my membership in the microwave.

It's made of indestructable properties, like a T-1000. It will climb out of your microwave, go back to its original shape, crawl back into your wallet and continue to bleed you dry of funds.
