The greatest player dose it again another record and the scary thing he is playing like he did in the 90's. A giant of the game, truly am privleged to have witnessed history made today.

What a innings what a knock... superstar.. the greatest we shall ever see... Tenders your are the king... like you said was a privledge to watch the master blaster in action

At his age to still be able to pick apart top class attacks regurlarly is remarkable.

Will be remembered as a legend of the game and rightfully so.:thumbsu:

It will be a shame to see the day he retires.

The thing that make the innings even greater is that he was spent when in the 160's. Did it on his own no runner even when he was cramping. The greatest ever, a legend we are lucky to see him in the middle.

Sporting legend.

Nothing else can be said. :thumbsu:

Amazing performance, I'm glad he got there first, thoroughally deserved. Could go til he's 40.

Interesting to find out how many times openers have carried their bat through an ODI innings...

Shame Sachin has been carrying his team since he was a teenager.

I love your work r dub, but I reckon the batting load over the years has been shared with Dravid and Ganguly (and more recently Dhoni), who were/are all quality batsmen (regardless of what people think of Ganguly).

Honestly, I have to take my hat off to the man. Words cannot describe how incredible an achievement this really is. Even quality ODI top-order contemporaries like Hayden, Ponting, Kallis, Yousuf, Anwar and Mark Waugh could not reach this milestone...nor could anybody else over the past 40 years of ODI cricket. He might well be the finest ODI batsman ever.

Lara 400*
Tendulkar 200*

Two batting greats now hold the two biggest scores. Simply awesome

lucky hes indian if he was an aussie there would be thousands trying to bring him back down to earth.
Tall poppy syndrome runs riot here.

why is there a need to compare SRT with anyone else, there is another forum where people are frothing at their mouths on the relative greatness of Sachin vs Viv Richards, here people want to bring in Ponting into the equation.

The point simply is that these guys are all great they have redefined the way the game is played, Viv in the 70's, SRT in the 90's, Bradman in the 30's and 40's etc.

Ponting has been a class act as far as his batting goes and continues to be one in his own style, while Ponting is technically probably a little more correct that Sachin his style of batting is different and has less risk in it therefore probably a little less exciting to watch but all the same I would give anything to see his pull shot just as I would love to keep watching Sachin's inside out hit over extra cover etc.

Sachin is an all time great for many reasons the most important of them being the fact that he was the main stay of the batting line up for almost half of his career yet he has managed what he has.
