Coping is a stringy KPP, a season or two in the WAFL and weights room will be required before he is ready to blossom. Stribling is a "runtish" midfielder.

I am sick of recruiters looking for athletes, the number one thing I look for is a player who can get the ball.

In the circumstances I am happy with the picks, but please remember they are players that need work done on them. At least 2 year projects.

We're not exactly crying out for players who are ready to go right now though, especially taking haines back (which i'm a big fan of, hope they give him a shot at it).

I think we would have taken Smith if the coasters didnt get him, after that it was probably more a case of development rather than get someone who was ready to go and face the prospect of having to drop an untouchable

Notice Port didnt even go near one WA player this year, properly be a long time before they even look this way again. And with 16 players going from SA, and only 6 from WA, proves just how good our SANFL is. The WAFL could take a leaf out of the SANFL books.

Pity Freo didnt take a leaf out of WCE and stick to WA lads. Out of their 4 picks, 3 are from WA!!

If they dont come from SA in the first place, you'll take after Port have made something of them .

I said, that THIS YEAR PORT didn't even look towards a WA Player, the reason they picked Thompson over other was that he is SA lad. And if you cant understand Choco in saying that after losing our VC.....how would Freo have felt if Pav had "come home"......happy or bitter??? And what Freo had no fear, or werent worried about the thought of losing Pav or Sham.....no of course not
After putting in all the hard yards with JC, just so he could go running back to mummy and brother. As for how many were left......there were NINE WA boys left......what Freo couldnt find another Midfield there???


As for Cassisi and Sujan, I dont know if you heard Jake on 6pr the other weekend. When The mouth George, said that was Jacob Surjan from South Freo, and hopefully we will see him back at Freo one day. To which Jake replied....."No not one day, No Not Ever. I love living in Adelaide and I am staying loyal to the Club". Dom has also said he wishes to finish his career with Port Adelaide!! Damon has resigned for another 2 years, hopefully the Grew will have an injury free year.


And as long as I follow Port Adelaide, there is nothing to ridicule me about. We are a successful club. Its not our fault that "some" of the WA boys arnt built of strong enough stuff to live in another state, and have to come running home when mummy or the wife Say's So!!

It will slowly become the way soon, that WA players will get left behind, because there is to much money involved now days. Clubs will no longer put in the years to only have the player run home. I mean this for all club's.......It will take Port 5 years for the young lad we picked up to become another JC.....time is money, and money is football!!

Firstly, I am an Australian.....A proud South Australian who lives in Western Australia. I have lived in NT as well, and all states of Australia are great. I loved my life in SA, we only left because of my husbands work, and I love my life In WA. Home is where you make it!! WA is where our child has grown up (born SA).....hence why I dont understand why footballers dont have the committment everyone else has to have with their jobs!! You go where your work takes you and you make the most of it!! Trouble is, loyalty dosent sit with many footballers, now days its all about the money. I admire players like Matera, Pav, Black, Grant, Primus. Players who stay with the club though thick and thin!!

Thats pretty funny, SA players were always going to be prominant in this years draft. Apparently they have the best crop of youngsters in the country this year. Look to next year, and its WA. I'll be very surprised next year if the majority of our picks aren't from WA. Once again it comes down to the best available.

I bet one of our young victorians will go home next year. We'll probably get a pretty high pick as compensation and use that to draft a promising young West Aussie. I don't like our chances of keeping Dunn, Murphy, Mundy and Campbell next year. I'd imagine we lose one or two of them, but who's to know.

And of course we'd be bitter if Pav went home... and he may do so at some stage, although at this stage he apparently has no intention of doing so. FFC obviously has a policy of picking the best available regardless of where they are from.

So 9 players from WA were left... how many nominate for the draft each and every year that miss out? A lot more than 9. Freo also has a habit of picking young local guys onto the rookie list and then using them very well. Local lads who have come off our rookie list, who play in our 22 include:
Haddrill
Sandilands
Hayden
Grover
Others such as Gilmore and Dodd will likely play more this coming year as the opportunities come up. You watch them call put the names of 2-3 local guys when the rookie draft comes up.

And I think you missed my point - I wasn't ridiculing you... you have the market on that one cornered quite nicely.

And of course Surjan and Casissi say they want to play for Port their whole career - no doubt you all believed that about JC as well. And you can't tell me as a Port supporter you don't think JC is made of stern stuff - you lot worshipped his toughness, never-say-die, don't ever back down style...

You would have never seen me say that JC isnt made of strong stuff "on Field"......A fantastic player......but weak for leaving for and wiping his nose on the VC of Port Adelaide. Weak for that reason only!! He has white line toughness when he gets out there, but not the same man off the ground!! He told his team mates he was staying, weak for not being man enough to stand on his own two feet. I hope for JC it works out.....Matthew and his family werent prepared to give up anything for Josh, he gave it all up for them.

And if you like to think Choco is Fearful of anything, you need to listen to his GF speech again. What he and the club are doing is.......If there are two players of the same value, and 1 is a SA and 1 is a player from Interstate, he will choose the SA player from now on!! Fair call to, and I hope they stick to it. See how Freo would feel if Pav left end of the year, then the following year you lost Sham. You cant say anything until you have walked in the club's shoes......and trust me your along way away from even gettin close to Port's shoes!!

The thing is......JC left because he got success fullfield a dream.....his other dream was to play with his brother. Show me anywhere JC saying he has come back to Freo because they are a "successful club, or he can see them being successful". It's all to do with his brother, nothing to do with the club. Same with Scoey, he was lucky enough to get a GF win under his belt, hit 30 yrs old....so now time to move out. No great lose with him, not a concern at all.

Port fearful.....lol, never. Careful and prepared to do what others may see as wrong yes.....But its Port way or no way!!

Everyone wrote us of....No Stevens - No Port.....We hear the same now about JC....Will only make September 05 even sweeter. Choco's like a snake....patient will wait as long as it takes to strike, and when he does he does it well!!







oh and by the way.....I love all the WA boys that play for Port. Our supporter group sponsors all WA born players that play for Port. It costs us a packet.....but links those of us who live in WA and follow Port. And as long as I live in WA, and as long as Port have WA players playing for them.....we will always do it. And yer, losing JC hurt a lot more than Stevens.....simply because we/I didnt even put them in the same class of men....thought JC was made of stronger stuff......guess I was wrong!!

To answer the actual question.....Copping has some reasonable wraps on him. There was a lot of talk about Stribling at the start of the year and he was rated up with Monfries as the best young SA midfielders in this years lot. Whereas Monfries had a top year and finished the year fully entrenched in Sturts league side, Stribling struggled with a bit of form and missed a number of games with injury so he became a bit of a forgotten man as such.

He is a bit of a skinny kid so he would need to spend a bit of time in the gym but he could become a star.

Still reckon the AFL drafts players too young, before they have proved themselves against men. Recruiters should be made to get their eyes out of the maternity wards, and the minimum recuiting age should be lifted at least 12 months.
