When was the last death from this fake af virus ? How convenient McGregor tests positive after an overseas trip. This is crippling our economy , look around outside nobody has this virus Ffs
Jesus Christ.
Having had this virus, locked up for 63 days in a hotel, and still suffering fatigue 9 weeks later this comment makes me angry.

Yeah but not straight away. Negative on Wednesday. Tested on Friday > Train > Irregular result >Tested again> positive result Saturday morning.
The training bit is weird.

An irregularity is a presumptive positive, and should be treated as a positive until it's known it's not.

And that pattern fits a recent infection.

He got it Wednesday or Thursday, or even Friday. PCR tests are really sensitive. Very small amount of virus present, partially shows up in the test on Friday. By the following day it's a full blown infection and he tests positive.

Looking at it, it's possible he wasn't infectious when he trained. As I said, the test is REALLY sensitive. So if it isn't a clear pos, I doubt he has enough virus to be infectious.

I previously said a bunch are possibly positive at Essendon, thinking about it now, I seriously doubt that, UNLESS, he caught it from someone at the club who hasn't been found yet.

The problem is Victoria has had the strictest lockdowns and still have.
5 days ago they had zero cases
and everyone was acting like the China virus was gone.
Shopping centres are full, parks and roads are back to normal.
where do you get your statistics from?????

Yep I agree, if the test is anything but negative you should err on the side of caution.

You would think this.

Test all players and coaches and trainers now.
Plays on Monday.
The virus can lie dormant for 14 days - possibly more

you can catch it off someone and 14 days later start replicating it. They arent even sure if 14 days is long enough.

Well with community transmission ongoing in Victoria and with the Premier blaming the people

Mr Andrews said more than half of the new cases since the end of April have come from family-to-family transmission.

"It is unacceptable that families anywhere in our state can, just because they want this to be over, pretend that it is," he said.

"It is pretty clear that behind closed doors ... they are not practising social distancing."

The state's Chief Health Officer said Victoria is "absolutely at risk of a second peak" of COVID-19.

"We are at a point where we have to turn it around or the numbers get beyond us," Professor Brett Sutton said on Saturday.

"We are indeed at a crossroads."

If you where a betting man I think its safe to assume that the comp will be shutdown

Please explain?
They have had the toughest lock down laws and highest testing in the country
What an absolute sook that poster is. Completely ignores the location and population difference between WA and Victoria. Clearly looking at Victoria with glee.

Season isn’t in danger. The rigorous testing ensures any cases will be found and dealt with. They can add extra games in during the week if needed. That poster should be more hysterical.

If more Essendon players test positive, which is looking increasingly likely with the amount of spitting and hugging McKenna did, they really should be disqualified from the competition this year.

I mean, we've isolated a potential superspreader. There's no reason to make the rest of the competition suffer because one club completely failed to manage an infected player properly. Just don't let them play.

Guys there will be some other thread to talk about politics.. This is about an Essendon player testing positive and the ramifications to the season.
Good point. I’m not sure why some posters would want to get sidetracked with political issues, when they should be focussed on giving the Bombers a well deserved kicking.

Don't think they could rule people unaffected so quickly, takes a few days to a week to develop enough antibodies to be detected and very variable from case to case.

There is very little evidence of people showing no symptoms and spreading the disease, especially with the young and healthy.

So the risk is incredibly low.

you can catch it off someone and 14 days later start replicating it. They arent even sure if 14 days is long enough.

And most show within 5 days. As above, the risks when not showing symptoms are very small.

These are young and fit people, not elderly in nursing homes with multiple health issues.
