Re: Walker Now!!!

****ing pathetic. Season over

Campbell, Jericho, Massie, Symes gone

Kite, Walker, Otten, Mackay in

Even ****ing Sellar to get some game time

And a big ****ing cull at the end of the year

Surely its time to play the above mentioned young players, cant wait till they get a good chance.IMO Symes was 1 of our best players again showed heaps of guts,Massie was ok & I thought Campbell showed good signs.

Re: Walker Now!!!

The crows hoped that he would play ressies and at some stage during the year step up and play senior sanfl footy....two ressies games , a break then seniors and 11 games later 39 goals 20 points 19 goal assists he has stood up, mind you with some deficiencies and at 6' 4 and 89 kgs which he is, he has been the key forward at norwood and handled the complete package of media releases and comments and even the disappointment of not even making the 25 squad for showdown, turned around and got on with kicking 4 goals on saturday all in the first half and did not see much of the ball after half time
His maturity has been a breath of fresh air from all reports at norwood and he made all australian at bottom age....so he has just come from the country and has stepped up every challnge and it is only time before he has that opportunity to see the next step in playing afl....time will tell as do his stats !

Thanks tails,IMO its time we gave Tex a chance what more can the lad do. What I like in 07 he starred in the finals a YEAR younger than he is now against senior players at Broken Hill where I am sure they would be very tough being miners. So give him a chance selectors please.

Re: Walker Now!!!

I think to solve the riddle as to why he isn't being selected, you have to decypher what Neil was trying to say last night when he said something like "sometimes its not the number of goals but the way you get them".

Well, at least with our normal forward line, that's not something we have to worry about.

wtf?

Symes especially... and campbell showed something today.

It's our run and accuracy off half back. MY GOD WHY CAN'T WE TAKE A MARK FROM THAT KICK OFF HALF BACK? WHYYYYYY!!

Re: Walker Now!!!

How did you read that comment??? So now Walkers goals are all cheap ones..Talk about kicking a club when its down.

He does make a fair point, if you go back to the 9 goal game though, only two or three of them are going to come about in an AFL game, the other 6 were either great positioning by Taylor mixed with atrocious manning up by WWT or fluke. Now of course to kick 9 at any level of footy a fair bit of fluke is going to be required, but it wasn't quite the magical, dominant performance it was hyped to be. I for example thought the 5 he kicked against North the other week was a far superior game to the 9.

This is all by way of saying that sometimes it is not about the number of goals but the way you score them.

Also, you're a paranoid whose reading way too much into that statement. But you do have from.

Re: Walker Now!!!

You can't sit on the fence .......too easy to do youself an injury ;)

Haha, good advice, I'll fall back on my original thoughts then and jump in the so called "minority" boat. In saying that, I won't be dissapointed if he gets a game. This season is over, lets use the rest of it to suss out who is worthy of staying, whilst allowing the likes of Jericho, Gill, Cambell, Massie, Shirley and co fight for their careers and prove why they should stay on next year. It will also lull the outside world into a false sense of security that we are shit and that we have no quality youngsters coming through, only to spring them on the comp throughout the whole of next year.

Jericho's best game for us included 2-3 flukey, arsey goals; they still count.

I couldn't care less if Walker flukes every single goal he kicks - you can't argue that our fowardline is currently functioning well; the majority of the goals we're kicking are come from individual brilliance, or luck.

I don’t think he is saying they are cheap – but WWT are hardly an AFL side.
What he is saying is that he is kicking goals but he to work on things that will be exposed at AFL level.
So far Port Magpies are the only team to expose his lack of defensive pressure no-one else has had the opportunity because he was kicking goals or Norwood were up. At AFL level everyone from Melbourne to Geelong are going to expose this and it can only be a negative especially with Crows fans as fickle as we can be. I’m happy that he sits at Norwood and kick goals and hopefully improve his other aspects of his game.

Do yourself a favour go out and watch Him play – well worth it you’ll see what people are talking about.

Where is Drummond I’d like to hear his POV on this one.

We have 22 players in our side (except maybe Jericho) who are capable of applying defensive pressure.

We have 0 players in our side who are capable of consistently kicking goals.

If Walker kicks 4/5/6 goals, I don't particularly care if he lays no tackles.

Except he'll be 18, leading the forward line on his own and at best case kicking 1 or 2 goals if he gets selected next week. Jesus, the expectations on him are getting completely unrealistic:thumbsdown:

And just you wait, the second we go down in a close one the media and this board will turn on him just as they've turned on everyone else in a millisecond if his defensive pressure is not up to scratch.

We only dream of a forward regularly kicking 1 or 2 goals.

Sorry I forgot everthing NC does in your world is 100% the right decisions - gullible much? Regardless of your spin and even if NC's comments were not supposed to be taken as it sounded, alot of people will take the comment the way I did. Mind you, its not a big deal. I'm with Cappie in that Walker can wait to next year to debut. We have endured a rubbish froward line for near on 8 years so another 6 weeks isn't going to hurt. Too be honest I would rather see Sellar thrown to the wolves - enough excuses for this kid.

And in you're world they're 100% wrong and you deliberately take Craig's word as opposed to what they're supposed to mean. Even if I'm gullible I'm closer to the truth than you are:rolleyes:

He is never 100% correct, but when he is talking about the development of players he has a better handle on their position than we do. Go and listen to some people in the know Re:SANFL the majority of them say the same thing about Walker, Great SANFL awesome potential – not AFL ready I’ve heard this from so any people its no longer funny. Go and watch the kid and let us know what you think.
As for Craig I think people should be asking what about Otten and Petrenko who both seem to be doing pretty much all they can (well Otten anyway) and can’t get a look in.

At the moment, we're expecting Tippett to not only lead our forwardline, but effectively be our entire forwardline. He's a little older, but has played a lot less footy, and is getting belted every week because he's basically flying solo, and the ball is sat on his head more often than not.

I have no outrageous expectations of Walker; if he came in and kick a goal or two a game for the rest of the year, I'd be thrilled, and it'd set him up for a massive pre-season and a real go at next year.

Alright, leaving the petty name calling for 5 minutes, would you play Sellar in the next 6-7 weeks? I know he is doing nothing in the SANFL but what would it hurt to give the kid a go? We have to use this kid positively becuase this club can really, REALLY not afford another 1st round draft pick bust.

He's obviously way down on form so gifting him a game (and it would mean gifting) may lift his game if he thinks the AFC have confidence in his ability.

Considering our current state, we really need to start thinking outside of the square and take a few risks.

He's been doing something in the SANFL reserves, admittedly in the ruck though where he's not going to be at AFL level. And I'd first like to give Gill another chance. I think people were much too quick to write him off after just a couple of bad games after playing fairly well last year. But if Gill comes back in and gets injured/performs poorly then yes I think Sellar should get a go only if he gets a good 4-5 weeks in a row. No point in putting him up for one week and then down the next. Give him some building blocks to go on to next year.

Re: Walker Now!!!

All comes down to the next 2 games, if we loose to Sydney andCarlton then the remainder of the year should be like the NAB with Sellar in at CHF, Walker maybe, try some fo the young kids
