Zero intel on trade worth/negotiations, just that as it stands he’s more likely to accept a multi year vic offer.

IF he went to the blues first question I’d ask is a pick slide with their TDK compo to Hawks 1R given a likely Dean bid anyway. They would probably rightly counter with Brisbane 2R which I’d decline in turn and tell Campbell he might be the #1 pick.

In the PSD.
Thanks mate

Is it money, game time or thinking he needs a fresh start

I'm shocked as he seems very invested (from the outside). Him and Ginbey trained together in the offseason and came back in great condition

Would have been hard being away from home, injured, in rehab group or playing a shit role relying on your weaknesses for the first four years of your career.

Money and game time unlikely to be an issue at WCE next year, hopefully he has a ball tearer in Thailand and decides this is the group he wants to play his footy with going forward.

You can't really blame Chesser for holding out can you?

A month ago we all had him on the delist pile and now that he's shown a bit only just offered him a new deal.

Seems like Dev areas unfortunately to me as we'll have three new likely top 10 picks he's going to have to compete against.

I think I'd up the money and give him a third year if we want to keep him (I think begrudgingly this is my preference if we have extra list spots) - otherwise if we don't want to, accept what we can get for him if he wants to leave.

He is but no.
Did something change since Gieschen was on radio with the Harley interiview as it sounded like it was more likely he was staying than not at that stage?

Did Carlton up their offer or was it always the case and Gieschen didn't want to increase the speculation so played it down?

I thought it was very similar as it is now. Flip of a coin. Said Chess has done well and now in a better position (multi offers) and will take the next few weeks to make a call.

Sounds like we are being played by the managers once again. The managers have learnt that the Eagles will always up the contract if there is a rival club sniffing around. Yeo, McGov, Waterman to name a few got more dollars out of us thanks to the managers saying a few clubs were offering more. And nobody can prove their claims.

Ryan will leave one way or another. If STK are dickheads he’ll probably end up at Essington. Chesser is more likely to go than stay (I hope he stays) and it’s odd the club hasn’t announced extensions for Cole and Cripps so they may be waiting to formally offer those contracts.
If we only offering cole 1 year im sure he would be attracting better offers as an UFA .

Also need to consider Chesser probably only got the offer a couple of weeks ago.

I am sure most players take a month or three to consider offers until they start hitting the twilight of their career.

And this is the problem, it became obvious that he was worth persisting with and we left him hanging (are we short on cash, no).

If we lose Chess that is a YUGE L on our off-field team.
Should have got pen to paper the moment it became clear he had turned a corner (I always thought he had showed glimpses when he played).

West Coast still seem oblivious to how ruthless and switched on the rest of the footy landscape has become, someone was always going to pounce and jump in on a ln unsigned 1st rounder who ha snow been rehabbed and got some games under his belt. They know he will costs little at the trade table.

Rubbish.

6 weeks ago he was playing WAFL and on the delist pile. Maybe the club played him for the last 4 games to pump his value up (so as to not have to delist a previous first round draft pick), offer him , 2 yrs and back him in the maintain that form.....or....now clubs have come sniffing and depending on the offer might get a second rounder for him.

Also has shown more than a lot of guys we’ve kept for years but has been very unlucky.

Would be such a let down to lose a first rounder who’s shown a bit after we’ve kept blokes like Jamieson, Petch, Jones, Rotham, Witherden etc for far too long.

Might be one we need to dig deep into our giant amount of spare cash and offer another couple of bucks on top.

Good intel again from eaglevision
Carlton couldn't possibly be offering too much more than what we would be either anyway.

Dip into to pockets and get it done. We need players in his age demographic, and his stint in the seniors showed there's a player there to work with.

Surely we are struggling to hit the cap floor next year anyway. I wouldn't have thought money would be a huge issue unless its a crazy offer from Carlton.

I am guessing its years or concern at being usurped by our high picks this year. But Carlton and Dons who have also enquired are both looking at possibly having 2 or 3 top 10 picks (before bidding etc.) so he could run into similar issues elsewhere is that was the case.

Yeah we can certainly play hard ball if they want to. It’s just a matter of if there is any backbone left at our once proud club.

The fact a two year deal is in front of him, all be it late in the season suggests he’s a required player and a former 1st round pick. It’s a trade the Eagles should be able to extract maximum value out of. Otherwise jog on Carlton not interested.
