Shut up about your drinks and tell us the inside info.

In pantskyle we trust since you called Harley*

*yes i think you took an educated guess and crossed your fingers, but lets see what you can deliver now.

Just kept my pants piss free.

There's little things but nothing huge right now, I like to wait until the combine to see where we sit with our picks.

Said recently we are not trading pick one and pick two would be one we could once we are given it. The club really wants 3 picks in the top 10.

I was furious we traded out pick 3 last year to satisfy a first round pick for Baker but the fault lies with us though. We sure as shit make some stupid comments come trade week. From Nisbett throwing Brander to the wolves, Clarke saying Baker was worth a pick around 14, Bell saying if Liam wanted to leave that the club would accommodate it and even Pyke saying we'd never use PSD as a mechanism to get a deal done.

We were cornered and all involved knew it. We signed Graham as a free agent a few days prior and he was only coming because Baker convinced him to. Once we mentioned a trade value for Baker Hawks held us to ransom and it took until the last hour of trade week to get something done. They acted in bad faith and i hope the club extracts a bit of revenge one day.

Sadly we couldn't afford to wait that long to get the Baker done and if we had Hawks would have given us less than we got, so in the end we were forced to split pick 3. Thankfully we managed to get a little something extra (Gross) by sliding back a few spots with Port which helped.

To feel better about it i try and look at it as Baker, Graham, Allen and Gross for Pick 3. :tearsofjoy:

However we cannot afford to **** up this trade period. I hope that Clarke & Pyke learned some very valuable lessons from last trade period. I hope they realize there is a way things are done. Never say what you think, never project who you want to draft, always expect the other side to try and screw you and most importantly DEAD GUYS FINISH LAST.

I hope we keep it very simple.

Take Pick 1

Take Pick 2 unless Bombers over pay with 5 & 6 for 2 & our second rounder.

Trade Hawks pick and an assortment of our other picks to GC for the Port pick. Use Chesser and or Liam Ryan capitol as well if needed.

Take Banfield with a later pick or rookie selection.

Hopefully AFL allow us pre access to our academy boys on an extended rookie list.

Trade a pick to Lions for Starcevich and Dev. Would love Tunstill as well if spots allow it.

Doubt there is anyone else we are looking at, dead silence in regards to us so let's not get cute.

We need to get in and out of this draft as quickly as possible.

Always enjoy the aspect of the NBA draft where the commissioner hands the recently-drafted player a cap of the team that drafted him and makes him put it on, even as ESPN is already reporting that he'll be traded to a different team. The first moment of his NBA journey is putting on a hat with the name/logo of a team he's never going to play for.

Yeah, I’m quite happy we don’t allow trading of players and rights to players during the draft.

I'm putting this out there - 'Dev' will not be an Eagle in 2026.

He will lob to a 'lower-middle of the pack' home at one of Carlton, Melbourne, St Kilda or Essendon because they turn his head with the promise of midfield minutes and the lure of finals. Yes really.

Basically - he'll go where Sam Flanders doesn't.

Not an Eagle. Just lazy journalism connecting him to us, so my half baked opinion on this is just as valid.

Last sentence is what we want to hear.

Trade F1 for pick 9?

I don't think we'd do a North and trade away such a valuable top 5 pick from next years draft.

You could be correct however i have a feeling he will be very, very careful who he chooses.

He can't afford to take the easy option. His career is at the crossroads after wasting the past two years after he had the chance to leave. If he doesn't pick the right club where he will play then his time in the AFL is done.

Not sure he gets time at Carlton or St Kilda and Demons and Essendon are not playing finals.

I'm sure the club doesn't care whatsoever that he's turned us down previously. His team had just lost a GF and it was understandeable a player could have a change of heart. Nephew of a club great not withstanding.

It's only closed minded idiots on here that don't understand how list management works, who have an issue with acquiring him.
It was a dumb choice for his career imo - but absolutely agree. We're not in a position to hold grudges.

& tbh it might end up better for us - can you imagine how he would have developed on our list vs Brisbane's list these past few years?

Disagree! The first sentence is exactly what we want to hear. As you get older the likelihood of pissing on your pants gets much higher. Pants didn’t piss on his pants. **** yeah.

If we don’t manage to get 3 picks in the top 10 I’ll piss my pants. It should be a piece of piss. We a have all the leverage!

Alternate universe time and we go back to last years trade period

Trade Barrass and our F4 for 14 and Hawks F2,F3 - same trade that we did but instead we get 14 instead of Hawks F1

Send our R2 pick (which became 30) to Richmond for Baker

So we go to the draft with 3 and 14 instead of 12 and 30

Suggestion was we’d have taken Langford at pick 3. Could have been Smith or Draper

At 14 maybe Allan is still there or if not we take Shanahan who we apparently rated that highly

So we have let’s say Langford, Shanahan and Baker instead of what we actually got which was Allan, Shanahan, Baker AND Hawthorn’s R1 pick this year

The later picks still stay the same and we could still have traded our F3 for the pick that landed Grego. We also don’t have Gross because we don’t have pick 12 to trade back for the pick Port gave us

We got lucky with Shanahan sliding to 30, but is the difference between Langford and Allan plus whoever we draft with the Hawks pick really that significant to still be bitching about a year later?

And had we made a different 50/50 call we’d have Carlton’s R1 and R2 picks instead of Hawthorn’s

Nup, sorry. You need to take a more macro view of what you’re bringing in and what you’re trading out in the offseason, you can’t just look at one transaction of one player and say it’s “bad business”. That trade doesn’t happen in a vacuum.
Okay, sure - but what's more likely to result in a good off season, a series of good trades or a series of bad trades? Saying it's fine because other things went okay is a cop out that ignores the fact that the overall picture is made up of the individual trades.
