Basically duff said “I think Harley Reid is gone” then Goss and Scotty agreed. Seemed no basis to it imo. Seems to be speculation on the fact there’s been no positive public movement over a deal. Would say the same applies to Ryno and X also.

The reality is that "tHe FuTuRe oF HaRleY rEiD" is the kind of content that generates interest for supporters of other clubs aspiring to secure his services. There really isn't any substance to anything, it's just talking heads looking for something to say before the season proper starts.

Harley would do himself a disservice if he signed after this preseason. Id actually be concerned he was under poor management.

Just lazy journalism with zero list analysis, not to mention there’s no way we’d take his baggage. He probably should move interstate though, for his own wellbeing, footy is a distant second. Swans would be the best landing sport for him.

What the actual problem with him? The media keep dancing around it. Is he on drugs or hanging out with bikies or something?

All of this discussion about where he will go also assumes that the bulldogs will give up for almost nothing. He is a number 1 pick they have made a large investment of time and resources into. It is going to be psychologically painful for them as a club to let him go. Even if he has severe personal problems i can't see them letting him go unless they can get enough in return that they can claim they got a large part of their investment back and came out almost square. I think they would rather keep him on the list, even if they thought they were going to get nothing out of him, than crystallise and realise the loss by letting him got for peanuts.

Yeah earlier in the show Goss put Don Pyke in the window (I guess it’s one of their segments) Saying he has his hands on everything at the club and he has to get Oscar and Harley re-signed.

The circled back to this for the cross over with Duff and that’s when the commented the above. They said they thing Oscar stays but Harley is gone. Would be Pyke legacy piece if he can get both signed up

I don’t think Harleys price of his contract is going up or down. If it’s one year extension or 10 years.

He might be holding out to see what Mini is like a ls a coach, if we have a Warner is coming but the actual $ won’t change much I would’ve thought

I don't agree with that. And even if the price isn't changing, why not give yourself the most amount of time to assess the club you're at and the suitors begging for your services?

There are two full seasons to be played - in full - before he is OOC. We could be flying by then, and equally he could request a trade to someone this off season who is garbage in two years.

If Reid goes that is a bummer but if we can get 3 first rounders for him like North did with Horn Francis i can live with it.

I started worrying after reading that his girlfriend lives in Victoria. That is not a good sign.

If he is giving the club signals that he intends to leave then we should be open to listenning to offers at the end of this year (if we get any) that are in the ballpark of three first rounders. If he is going then lets admit that to ourselves rather than be in denial about it, look for the best possible deal and be open to the idea that the best time to trade him might be at the end of this year (if we get an offer we like) instead of waiting for him to come out of contract.

A pretty good shout. He probably wasnt far off replacing Gov in the Grand Final let’s not forget.

I’d hate to pay a ridiculous amount for him either way. Need to leverage Free Agents leaving when you’re at the bottom of the ladder. That’s how teams bounce back

OK. I thought they got 3 but i might be wrong.

It was kind of a forced sale so that might have knocked the price down a bit.

But if Harley does go we probably need to face the fact that the best offer we can get might be two firsts which is less than what we think he is worth. It is hard for clubs to offer more than that for any player. Which is why i say if we get a better offer than that this year and we are sure he is going then we should consider it.

All this media speculation is just BS. If Harley himself indicated he was not going to extend his contract and desperately wanted to go back to Victoria then he goes to Richmond this year along with our F2 for their 1R, F1 and North’s 1R.

I still think he’ll sign an extension with us, probably only for a year then his next contract will come down to whether we’re looking into a flag window.

He'll also have achieved less than Judd if he leaves after his initial 3 years. Juddy was the best player in the competition and he got us a top 5 pick (but not the Pick 1 held by Carlton) a second round pick, a raw KPP that didn't even want to come, and we had to send a pick back.

We won in the end thanks largely to JK becoming an all-time great, but yeah. We ain't getting what we think he's worth.

That trade was limited by the rules of the times.

There is essentially 2 top ten picks and Martin on the table for WC if he wants to go to Essendon this year imo.
Can't see his value decreasing next year unless he has a major injury, also does he want to go to Essendon and who is offering more, these are the main questions along with who has the draft capital to make it happen.
If WC show improvement and Warner is playing for WC in 2026, I think Harley will sign through to FA with WC.
There is a significant offer on the table for this to happen imo.

I'm not saying he's hurt his value this preseason, I'm saying his ceiling is unknown and he doesn't do himself any favours signing this early.
