Here’s a left field one given there’s been discussion about long contracts.

There is currently no minimum right?

So if the rumour is Harley is worth 10x2mill, how about we offer him 15 years at 1.5? Or 20 years at 1.25?

Could or would the AFL stop it?

Obviously it’s well beyond his use by date, but we’d be say we’ll look after you until you’re 35 or 40. No money worries at all. And 35 or 40 is a long time for a 20yo.

And would anyone match it? Nope.

Like I say left field. 😊
as an example use 10 by $2m
'Roughly but historically' over ten years the cap will double and the value of the contracted $2m will have halved due to inflation etc.
Rough I know but it's easy to see why clubs are happy to offer.

Depends how one defines medium term, I take it to mean 6-8 weeks, add the standard 1-2 weeks training before playing it is basically end of season. At worst it's 12 weeks.

Don't think it's something that would prevent him doing a pre-season but hey this is the Eagles who blatantly lied about Yeo not being out for much longer than they said originally. I was told it was a fear of season for Yeo but club said nah 5 weeks when he did it. Here we are.

The article stats the West understand the injury is worse then what is being let on. (From the part that has been released on the back page)

But if there is no surgery required how bad can it be?

article written on dunny payer by a used car salesman (apologies to the automotive industry) verses a medical opinion based on MRI? let me think.

Link to the full article- aside from a line suggesting the injury may be worse than the club has let on which has nothing specific to back it up it’s vague as **** and mainly rehashes bits of other stories

And twice has a go at us giving a "medium term" prognosis, gotta get their dig at us in. Never mind it's a bye week so Oscar's likely away somewhere and probably also needs follow up scans to give a proper timeline

Magic Johnson had a 25 year contract with the Lakers, they were still paying him $1 million a year until 2009 or something, about 18 years after he retired
He wasn't even their lowest paid player from the 2009/10 season, this is what their salary cap looked like from that year (also a championship season)

One year extensions for Gross, Grego and Davis. Good business.
Where's Jobe?

Happy for the others to have signed extensions but he's the one i really want to lock down.

Sure it's good news, but not nearly as good as Kelly signing on for +2 more.

Thank goodness.

1st round picks are automatic 3 years now.
Champion is already signed until end 2026

Champion signed on as a Cat B rookie which are usually only one year contracts

To the best of my knowledge he’s out of contract this year, albeit I expect he’ll get another year based on his performance so far
