WC are not snookered, they hold all the cards.
If Harley requested a trade end of this year, we either take the big offer from Essendon or whoever has the best deal in a raffle for his services.
If he doesn't his value increases next year if we hold him to his contract!

The 2 top 10 picks and Martin deal from Essendon is close to his value imo.
That's 3 picks inside top 10 and another around 12-13 tied to Hawks, lock in Warner with 2nd of Essendon's picks our F1st, Ward with our second round pick and draft 2 top 10 players with our 1st and Essendon's best pick best KDEF Curtin with Hawks pick.

Harley replaced with 2 top 10 mids(WC 1st/ESS 1st), best KDEF in draft with Hawks 1st, Warner, Ward, Martin, WC FS/NGA's job done.
It sound so simple! What could go wrong?

If we end up with that diving chip scab as a third of a Reid trade I will spew, no thank you.

Hold him to his contract and back ourselves in to convince him to stay, he will not request a trade mid contract anyway.

Well sounds like we will either re-sign Reid or we will get the bombers + dees 1sts + Nic Martin, like WCE777 has been saying.
Id like to at least add a f1 to that, or even more if the sum of the 2 picks is greater than 12(like pick 4 + 9=13 for example)

Ask the question haha

good that its been reported now, source apparently is correct!
Might be a bit overs with a F1st, depending where they both finish, but if picks are not all top 10 then a F1st should absolutely be on the table.

well at least my info from source has been reported now, still think Harley signs through to FA.

If you have to guess why he hasn't put pen to paper would you say it's more about playing to increase the overall $$$ in the deal, or to see how we go under mini, or to wait and see what happens with chad?

Obviously it's never one thing, but if you had any info that'd be helpful.

Geez if you were Harley Reid and you wanted to go back to Victoria with the pick of the bunch, Essington would be the bottom of your list.

He’ll get lifetime coin to go anywhere - why would he go to permanent mid table flops like the Bombers?
Especially when moving there would gut their list. You're essentially losing Martin for Harley and throwing and giving up 2 top 10 picks for the privilege.

Reid will be better long term than Martin, one would presume, but you're giving up a seriously quality player, and gutting your draft hand, when you're not even remotely close to challenging.

I don't have anything except that Harley has been offered a 2 year and a 5 year deal from WC that now seems to be out there, on very big money.
I would be surprised if he doesn't sign for 5 years through to FA and he won't be doing it soon I wouldn't think, no reason too on his behalf.
He wont be going home end of 2025 unless there is a massive falling out.
He will be seeing out his contract minimum, and depending how WC are travelling and what happens with Warner, who is definitely 1 of the players that simmo was mentioning wanted to come home and play with Harley last year.

I still think Warner is 80% over the line for WC, just about the deal from what I have been told.

Would you rather have him for 7 years and lose him for nothing in free agency, or would you want him for 2/3 years and get a couple firsts for him...I'm torn, tbh.
TF??? 7 years. That would still give us 2-3 tilts at a flag, and when FA comes around we can just match and ask for 2-3 firsts, because he'll be the best player in the game.

What even is this?

No way he just up and leaves via FA at that time, we should be in the window contending for flags.

Even if he did want to leave, he would be a RFA and we could match any bid, force a club to trade

Sing to FA 100% would be the best outcome

Umm 7 years to free agency obviously. If he wants out then, we match the bid and still get multiple firsts for him. Strange question

7 years might be another premiership in the bank.
FA compo would be very good as the deal for him to leave would be.

From the sounds of that it seems like Harley won’t sign until at least end of year when we know what happens with Warner.

I want harls to stay.
But if he wants out deal him to tigers.

Take pick 1 and 3 (norf)
Oscar leaves and we got pick 1 2 3 and 4
Give syd hawks pick and F1
First 4 picks and warner.

Making lemonade out of lemons.

Stupid question, a player of his quality on the list for another 5 years is worth its weight in gold and gives us the best chance possible to attract more talent and win another flag while he's here, plus we will get a first rounder if he leaves as a FA anyway. Not to mention the longer that he stays, the greater the chance he stays for his career.

Tigers won’t give up 1 and 3. Why? Because no one else can match them just with pick 1.

Pick 1 and some other assets would get it done but doubt anyone would simply hand over picks 1 and 3.

Certainly not if our list manager first tells them exactly what we will actually accept.
