I doubt Freo have the cap space at that time unless 1 of Jackson or Darcy leaves…at a minimum
Honestly, Freo gives GC and GWS a run for their money the way they hemorrhage contracted players, especially WA home grown talent.

Will WC have a crack at Bobby Hill? Possibly the most underpaid player in the AFL.... not sure if he wants to come home but I would be surprised if we didn't at least offer him something to drive up his value.

Do we need him?

Cripps
Ryan
Owies
Brockman
Long
Rawlinson
Champion

We've got a logjam of small forwards already. I think some more coming through the NGA as well?

I’m not saying we definitely need Hill and what’s it costing draft wise? Talent is talent and he’s got plenty of that and if he showed an interest he would improve us no doubt.

2026

Cripps retired
Rawlinson* Delisted (probably needs a decent year to stay on the list)

Ryan out of contact in 2026. Does he earn a new one ? Form and injuries could take its toll.
Owies
Brockman
Long
Champion slow burn always a good chance he doesn’t make it.
Walley? He’s NGA listed but has a whole season of 18`s to go yet, no certainty

2027
Owies
Brockman
Long
Champion* no Guarantee either are on the list
Whalley*

If that was our small fwd list in 2027 we would be one injury away or bad form from badly needing a quality small fwd.
If Hill wanted to come it would be an easy choice to delist or let Ryan look elsewhere at the end of 2026.

We probably want 3 small forwards in the side at any time + a rotation from Reid/Hewett/another developing mid making 4 spots.

For what Hill would cost hes definitely not worth it, the timing with his age just doesnt line up for us imo.

If we find out we arent happy with Long/Brockman/Owies during the year and want to write them off(or theres a positional change) then id look at him though

I’m of the opinion that Long could potentially transition to the midfield as his body matures. It’s probably a “Long” shot at this stage however.

Id like to see that as well, if we trade for Hill we would have to look at it, but if we keep drafting mids + trade for Warner we wont have room for Long

BREAKING ⚠️🚨 Harley Reid looks almost certain to land at Geelong for the 2027 season! According to sources, he will earn 500k a season and then 1.7million a year in a separate job completely disconnected from the footy club as a 'farmer's assistant'...more to come!

Talent is talent but there are more pressing needs with our list, most small fwds have decent careers into early 30's and Ryan will still be on our list in 2027 imo.
2027
Ryan
Owies
Brockman
Long
Champion(still developing)
Walley(still developing)
If Ryan's form or injuries dictate he isn't on our list, Dewar is another player who is more than capable of playing that role.
Also plenty of mids developing who could take that role like Johnstone, Gross and resting mids playing half fwd.
Far better to invest in midfield talent that has more deficiencies in it, like 2025 lets get Ward and Warner imo.

Dewar is much more likely as a high half forward or a Wing. He's not really a small forward. Long again is more of a HF than small forward but with some more size and a fair bit more strength there is a genuine chance of him becoming a full time mid. He'd need big bodies around him but he has the ability.

Not what I heard. Gerard Whately and Dwayne Russell were both reporting he'll be paid 750k a season by the Cats, and he'll also be working a seperate job as a kitchen hand at the Corio Roadhouse with an annual salary of 2.5 million.

They said the AFL will look at it, but they expect it to be approved

ok, so your saying WC need to be trading in SF players like Hill or Kozzie when they are available?
And using 1st round picks to get them which the offers would need to be?

She plays for Carlton so she won't be in the draft, would have to trade to get her.
Her youngest brother Willem will be in the next draft.
yeah i mean just offer her $1mill a year for the lols

What value would you put on B Hill?
2023 Norm Smith would have to be a 1st round pick?

Tom Morris just provided a bit more info. Said Harley has taken up an apprenticeship position at Corio Roadhouse, wants to be a chef and AFL player. AFL expected to approve this set up
Is pretty good at selling candy so the roadhouse checkout 2 for 1 deals will suit him well

All ticked off by Simon Kelleher General Manager Club Finance, Performance and Growth at the AFL. Nothing to see here,

How long have you guys been discussing Chad Warner?

The media is simply a reflection of footy nuffies on social media.

Fans of every club talk about potential trade targets years in advance these days.
Chad talk has had far more substance to it. Reported tried to get back 2 years ago, rumoured to have called Simmo mid last year, purchased a house. There has been reports for 2+ years.

Warner discussion hasn’t been talked about on every tv show and radio show for 3 days and everyone giving their thoughts with 2 years to run on his contact and yet they all say it’s just a vibe and I have Zero Mail.

This is the same media that said the WA media are going too far with Harley yet he’s their human headline on every show.

See JUH linked to Brissy ;).

I am glad to see him improve and he is looking to have a decent footy IQ and poise. I worry that he lacks pace.
He is tall but our tall look just ok on TV as the game has moved on, 2m is almost average for a tall these days.
A break out season for harry would be fantastic.
Its why I wanted Matt Whitlock last draft. I actually think Jamieson has some ability and could fill a KPD spot quite capably... if he could ever get on the park

Lachlan McGlade in 2026 draft elite a junior small forward you will see.
This year there's Wes Walley and Tyler Williams

Anyone notice that Sheldrick is the only player to be dropped by the Swans this week? Perfect time to get in his ear with the promise of inside midfield minutes.

Sheldrick is not good. Would rather develop Hutchison and Hall over burning assets on Sheldrick.

He would be very cheap especially if he doesnt get many games this year, and is a more mature body now in his 4th season(5th next year when we might have him)
Good depth or 5th mid if nothing else
