Draft C Curtin

Shanahan

Barnett

Livingstone.

Curtin Snr traded in a year or two.

Cameron and Flynn.

We wouldn't be short of options. That's why some of them likely move.
I'm all for drafting in Cody Curtin as a key back that can play forward, maybe go after his brother when his contact is up, however , Barnett is not up to WAFL standard let alone anywhere near AFL standard, I get that rucks take time, but he has showed no absolutely no progress at all and Livingston is not setting anything on fire either. Cameron will be what, 31 as a FA ?

Matt Clarke didnt have hair on his balls when I started posting on here dick.

Just saying.;)

Others have posted about Jack's limitations previously.

Anyway, sounds like a lot of you rate J Williams more highly than the other talls coming through fighting for that spot.

IMO Jack is coming along as a good solid role player 3rd kp fwd and 2nd ruck. Not our saviour for the next time we contend.

If you want to dream otherwise. Go for it.
I'm captain pessimism, but even I rate him highly. Does footy things well.
Also, A Reid had a huge game last night- just from all the 1% he pulled off. Only had 6 disposals but knows what to do and where to be.

I think most people would agree on the bolded part, and majority would have Reid and Shanahan ahead in their longer term projections.

That doesn't change the overall dynamic. Assuming Oscar leaves, Waterman is 28 by the start of next season, and Gov is 34.

Shanahan could be lining up in our backline and we could have Waterman, Reid, JW up forward for 3 years with the option of moving Shanahan forward if/when that happens.
Shanahan back seems a no brainer. Great overhead, lacks the chutzpah to do more than that as a forward IMO.

If you're using a player we don't own and Barnett/Livingstone as a reason to trade J Williams, I question all aspects of your logic.

Then you obviously dont comprehend list management and list planning.

You are thinking emotionally based on the present and not looking at the bigger picture.

Is it illogical that Collingwood are interested? No.

Would it be illogical for Jack to be tempted. No.

Is it illogical that Cameron wants to finish his career in WA? No.

Is Jack Williams a critical part of the rebuild who we cant possibly cover losing? No.

Pretty embarrassing TBH so many posters getting their knickers in knots about another club potentially being interested in a 22 yr old fringe 3rd tall forward / ruck drafted late.

One of Watermans marks and goals was due to Archer. Archer engaged McKay and a 2nd tall defender, bumped and shoulder3d them both off balance so Waterman could jump at it and mark.

No stat for Archer but those who understand forward craft would have seen it.

Great to see from such young forwards

Here's the thing about building lists:

Harley is a lock. Hewey looks like he might end up elite. All the other are unknown quantities. Hutch, Gross etc. We don't know which are going to cut it. It won't be all of them. Similarly, we can see Ginbey and Hough are probably 200 game players. All these other fellows - Long, Dewar, Chesser, etc. Not all will make it. We don't know who will, but some will.

So looking at our KP stock; Waterman is close to a lock. Then there's Reid, Shanahan, J Williams, Bazzo. To me, Reid looks like the goods, but we don't know. Shanahan looks good, but he hasn't played a game yet.

It's too early to call J Williams surplus to needs. For all we know he could be the ace in the pack. It was only two seasons ago when the majority were calling Waterman a "delist immediately spud".

So to cough up a guy who has shown potential for a 30 year old ruck who's okay? We're better off keeping Williams and going to the MSD and getting a ruck for free. Keep trying them, and keeping playing these current guys in the WAFL.

Why on earth are we talking about trading Jack Williams? Our KPF problem is a good one to have but I'd try Archer down back or as primary ruck before we considered trading Williams.

Obviously so we can get a ruck with a couple of seasons left in his career, so we can have the same problem we're having now in a few years, just as we're starting to rise back up the ladder.
