Shuey would be a great development coach, but as far as the midfield is concerned, he dined out on Nic Nat's silver service for most of his career. He didn't have to try to feed off other ruckmen's taps like our current midfielders do.

Graham has come in and laid bare the training standards, or the lack of them.

Still contracted until 2026. Seems the right age. Vic Country kid too so might be more open to moving.

Geelong won more than any team 2016-2019.

I think there is a pretty solid argument that we were a good team that had a great 4 weeks.

We got it right for 4 weeks and was able to make it count.

There was always a bit of a soft underbelly.

2 prelims is a pretty low return for a great side.

2015 GF and the 2016 Season were our chances to go from good to great, ****ed em both up

Really liked him in his draft year, thought he was underrated. Had a lot of poise

Reading up speed seemed to be the biggest concern.

We should have enough of that around the contest for him to extract and be a nice link man for us.

If they lose tomorrow you’d think he would be a chance of a game soon.

I appreciate what Shuey did as a player and his loyalty to us.

But with everything that is coming out now, which just confirms what we saw with out own eyes, with admissions that after 2018 the senior players CBF'ed and were just going through the motions and the collapse of training and fitness standards at the club etc etc, and nobody objected to it or attempted to do anything about it including Shuey as a club leader and Captain at various times i don't hold in high regard as a leader and would rather he wasn't employed by the club in any kind of role in the football department.

Adding Bont and Warner both as much as it takes from our draft hand, it would instantly make us at least a middle table team with high upside due to the amount of kids we have.

Draft a mid with pick 1.
Trade for Wanrer with the Allen compo.
Hawks 1st for Bont.
Maybe we trade for Darcy Cameron too with our 2nd rounder+some player.
Thats the entire midfield rebuilt.

Bont would essentially be more or less obtained for Barrass, theyre the same age but Bont is clearly the superior player/leader so that'd be a win.

Just need a KPD, which could be one of Archer or Shanahan.
I've seen Butts name mentioned as a possibility, he would be better than Edwards or Brock surely?

Attracting talent should be relatively easy if we have Bont, Warner and Reid in the middle.

The Bont thing is pure fantasy. Why would he leave the club he loves to come to a team on the other side of the country and at the bottom?

If it did happen, it would suggest that the following are also on the cards:

• Oscar staying because getting the Bont will screw our FA compo
• Warner not coming (so the Bont is a stop gap and gets the Warner cash)
• Or maybe Harley leaving, so Bont is a stop gap and gets the Harley money

I have a bad feeling we don't get Warner or Bont and Oscar and Harley leave.

I don’t understand why we would want a 30 year old.
It's not like we will be contending in the next couple of years.

The team needs to be competitive and win a few games otherwise everybody gets really down and good players want to leave.

That’s not all bad.

Oscar we are getting overs, so the hope is he is going.

Agreed Bont is .001% chance.

Warner thing, I want him but look unlikely but we get 2 picks inside the top 3.

Harley is the one we want and ‘need’ to keep. 4th year Hewett, 3rd yr Harley, Yeo, Gross and hopefully the best two mids in the draft is trending in an upward trajectory and fast imo.

Would those clubs pull out if he’s not for free asset wise and we are stuck with Oscar and the contract we didn’t want to give him? Imagine the Vic Media with that story line and how it would be sold

Look I don’t think Bont leaves dogs and it’s clickbait from a west journo filling void after reading someone’s fantasy on here, BUT

Lions, Hawks and Swans all consider themselves in the window but lack a proper key forward. Sure they’d prefer to get him as a FA but I doubt they’d pull out of the race.
