You cant have basicallty nothing in the 23-27 age range though either.

We need to focus on that age range and not the 30 year olds
Totally, 44 kids and no prime 23-27yo players driving the club is a recipe for fail.
Few injuries to the wrong talent and we are back to getting belted.
Its a feather in the cap of the coach and crew that we have been competitive with so many senior players injured, out of form and just dropping off in general.

If Cameron costs our R2 pick and maybe a F3rd or Hawks 3rd for a superior ruck for 3-4 years I am good with that.
Don't want to be sending BW or JW in a deal, they are required players.

What we do need is those 23-27yo bodies to help with our mid tier and help the 25 kids less than 50 games with development.
Erasmus seems the obvious choice being a big bodied mid where we lack more than kids in reality, maybe only a B grade player but maybe more, 3rd round pick and a 4th is probably his value.

We could do with another of decent quality but slim pickings and we still have a midfield to draft for and complete while we are down the bottom.
D Robertson or Phillips are probably of lower quality 23-24yo mids, I wouldn't like to spend more than a 4th round pick or in Robertson case a DFA or SSP to play WAFL and be depth, cover, injuries.

Max 2 lower quality of Erasmus/Phillips/Robertson as depth and solid potential upgrades if they go ok, if we are cutting deep and have potential to be better in a new system, coach.

who on here was saying Erasmus is selling some of his FRE/PT related footy jumpers?
must have been a massive falling out?

To be honest I kind of think if Darcy Cameron goes, Reily O'Brien goes in as a free agent the other way making Bailey and Jack Williams somewhat pointless. Further to that its pointless because with the investment in Daniel McStay theyd want to keep with him. What Collingwood will actually want is future draft picks. Question would be how do we get them for Collingwood?

Many avenues to go down this way. Id probably go to Port Adelaide myself and look to give them a first this year to get their first next year and basically trade a future 1st of Ports to Collingwood for Cameron. Port would probably want to limit the picks they hold next year in preparation for the Cochrane situation. I think a deal like

Pick 19 + future 2nd for Ports Future 1st + 25 this year (to get Walley). Id then want to use 14 +25 and 32 to get down to Gold Coasts pick 10 and 18

Pick 1,2,10,18 and then Wes Walley at the end . Feels ok to me . Sign me up
I posted here today taht Collingwood have 4 FS/NGA players to draft this year.
They need the points this year to match they have bugger all and would need a minimum of 1200 points to match bids for them, this is roughly our 2nd round pick and maybe Hawks 2nd.

If the pies are keen on ROB then it makes complete sense for them to let Caneron go for the right price.
I wouldnt be keen on letting any Williams go but if we could do our 2nd + hawks 2nd for him thatd be a great outcome.

If one of the Williams asked to leave then so be it, include them and do whatever to make it fair.

100% chase at least 1 of those cheaper early 20s aged inside mids. Use late picks.

Trade for Busslinger if hes interested, using no more than the equivalent kf a mid 2nd round pick, or get Blight for next to nothing. KPD depth sorted.

Need to throw money at somebody then too, just to use our salary cap.
Not a lot out there but a real shame we cant go for any free agents.

Happy to use 3 first round picks wherever they end up and then add ngas to suit.
If we only get 2 NGAs then add rookies after then that's fine, makes the list cut a lot easier.

5 draftees, 2 rookies and 3 player additions means 8 main list spots and 4 rookies to delist/remove.
Gov, Allen, sheed assumed to be already gone. Petch, Jamo, rawlinson safe to assume are gone too.
3 more main list spots and 3 rookie spots needed.

Dont need to make it complicated

Don’t think the Pies would want him to go but I guess if the offer helps set Cameron up for post footy then he will be the one instigating the trade.

End of this year two time premiership player and then it’s pay day heading back to WA.

It’s certainly not unrealistic and after seeing us prepared to pay for Baker last year at the trade table it’s probably going to cost more draft capital than a lot of peeps in here will like.

Pyke said last year multiple times the club will use all levers to get the club back on track. We won’t just hit the draft if players are prepared to join us

What d9es 3 years of decent footy cost in draft picks?

Pies need picks to pay for all the father son and academy assistance they are entitled to.

I’m on top of the world not losing this weekend, almost as good as winning.

My joke of the weekend was.

"Hey this is going to be a great weekend. We can't lose and we can't fall lower on the ladder".

But we still have Kelly contracted. So now we have two list cloggers.

I just think Dev missed too much of his development time at afl level to ever make it. So what’s the point? Trying to solidify the Beagles, or add a depth mid is just pointless unless we are getting rid of Kelly and others

Yep. Dev wouldn't have developed much training with the current premiers.

What would he learn there?

Apart from what it takes to win a premiership.

And how good you need to be to win one.

Bloody oath😀👍, and as bad as it is in a few months time we welcome another bunch of talented kids to the club.
Rejoice until we play Collingwood and then reset.

Because he's young, from WA and not getting a game.

That's literally it.

I mean it's literally not.

He's a highly rated first round pick that's been starved of opportunity for a couple years now. He's had a few years of quality VFL from and development and about to come into a thay sweet spot with his age as a KPP. He'd be a target for multiple clubs, not just WA ones due to origin bias.

The one AFL game he played he was solid and didn't deserve to lose his spot. Lots of dogs fans still want him in the side and baffled he isn't playing.

He also happens to be from WA.

On Busslinger. His form warrants selection but Bevo has told him he has to be more accountable for his direct opponent and improve his man on man defending at VFL level before getting a call up unless there is an injury or team specific strategy.

I suspect Bevo wants him in the team as a true KPD and that his intercepting and foot skills are just a bonus rather than as a 3rd tall. If he ended up with us thsts exactly how I’d want him to play too but how nice for the Dogs that they have that luxury.

And again, the fear of flying is BS. Voluntarily travelled to the NT for example despite knowing he wasn’t going to play.

Do we make a play for Freos Liam Reidy ?
Sitting behind Jackson & Darcy ,could he end being a Lloyd Meek.
Sounds like he wants more opportunities at the top level.
Would be cheaper then Cameron and an upgrade on Flynn

This sounds legit. Busslinger is a good interceptor however has had to work on his accountability.

I haven’t seen him play for well over 12 months, but pre-season before last he was getting absolutely destroyed by his team mates when asked to defend the way Bevo wants him to (ie accountable, back shoulder, engaging his opponent, think Rory Lobb). He looked way off the pace.

I’m not entirely sure how he is progressing but dare I say that is what has kept him out of the team.

It might be that Busslinger is not cut out to be that type of KPD. I’m not sure if forcing a player to play to their weaknesses “this is what the team needs” is a good strategy to get the most out of players.

I feel like meek had more exposed form. I remember he took the points in a derby against nic nat in either 2021 or 2022. Pretty sure Freo knew they had a pretty good ruckman playing behind Darcy if they needed him.

Reidy is far less a known quantity. Has only played 3 games and is already 25.

But it’s worth a shot. He’s begging to be picked up by another club. I guess it depends if he wants to stay west or head home.

Would make sense with the disgruntled players who've left the club recently.

Kind of ironic though that they continue to play Naughton forward because that's where he wants to play, despite being a better defender though.

He’s 198cm. In an age of forward half pressure playing 2 x KPDs plus a 198cm 3rd tall just isn’t going to work. He’s filled out a lot over summer and I can see the logic in it from Bevo. If he can be coached to have that one on one game as well as his intercept and offensive attributes he’ll turn into a fantastic KPD.

Nowhere to put him in their backline at the mo.

If going after reidy for cheap means we don't go after cameron I say we go for it.

This, short memories on his skill set and WC where all over him before he re-signed with WB last year.
They obviously rate him and he is perfect age to bring in a KPD player and develop in our system, already well developed and would only be a mid/late 2nd round pick needed.
No brainer, why draft another KPD player when there is a mostly developed one sitting out there ready to compete with our current stocks.

Ok, but we have Baker and Graham who have that experience, plus actually play.

Look i'm not opposed to Dev, but we don't have room in the list for him unless we cut a stack, better off taking rookies/upside swings for the spots we will have.
