Harley & Hewett are our midfield future. A-Graders the pair of them.
Allan, Gross & Hall are probably the next best based on potential, but still unproven.
We'll likely kick off 2026 with 2–3 new top 10 pick mids — ideally including Dyson Sharp — rounding out our future midfield.

I'd target Matt Crouch or Tom Mitchell as a 2 year, inside pig, stopgap, cheap FA to support Yeo and the kids — not Dev (even if he's a DFA).
Dev, Erasmus, etc. are age-gap fillers who can’t hold down their roles at AFL level and will probably be delisted before our kids peak. Who cares if they’re the "right" age?

If the vets decline our offer, then sure, bring over one of Dev, Erasmus, Phillips etc.

We're still a chance to bring Chad over in 2 years as a FA.

So why not go full "Guns and Rookies" while Harley, Hewett & Sharp develop — with Chad joining later?

A midfield of Yeo, Crouch/Mitchell, Harley, Hewett & Sharp. Stops teams from just scragging Harley out of the game.

This guy could be an alternative to Grlj. If he’s anything like his brother he’s got huge development upside.
Hunter Holmes is the younger brother of Geelong's Max Holmes and comes with a similar reputation as an elite junior athlete. That combination of pace and endurance will have Hunter firmly in the draft frame even though his footy game is still quite raw at this stage. He turns in consistently solid performances but is yet to have that real break out game at either Talent League or Champs level that would have his name moving higher up draft boards.

Archer needs to develop a glistening rock hard body of his own before he starts writhing with other glistening rock hard bodies on a regular basis.

Seriously.

Id be happy with either of these two as a stop gap over the younger guys(dev, etc), easier to phase them out in a couple of years time or even just use them as sub/rest them to give opportunity when the time comes.
Offer them something post footy to sweeten the deal

This is exactly why we need to push the AFL for a f2nd and f3rd and rookie spot compensation.

I think your list is spot on for our needs. My four trade targets in order would be
Buzz f2nd compo
Cameron current 2nd
Sheldrick pies return Cameron pick 36
Phillips f3rd compo

This then leaves our draft capital 1 2 14 32 available for 4 kids while retaining next yrs draft capital.

Tell Dev to explore his options and we will pick him up only as a DFA.
thats too many list cloggers, we also have a few NGA guys who have draftable grades on them. Max one or two trade ins.

Continuing to spew thoughts from youtube footy media.
other than salary what more do WCE have to do to bring P. Cripps back to W.A to have a seniour midfield head.
Might be silly considering we hopefully have a YEO to fill that role, and what it might stop in terms of YOUF.

I just don't agree...He's a clearance first mid that hasn't been getting played much, especially in his preferred role and Caldwell and Durham are going pretty well.

When given the chance, he's gone well at clearances.
It's his kicking which had kept him out for the most part. He did lose some of that explosive power after his injury but he's just starting to rediscover and use that now in the VFL.

He's a clearance mid in my eyes (and I suspect most), with very good hands, starting to get good speed back, those first especially.

He's weird as he doesn't tackle much and kicks like shit
That's the exact trope being shouted by every midfielder not playing on ball in the country.
In reality he sucks in there currently, and can't get a gig in the AFL over below average competition in Essendon's midfield.
I’d agree on the Bazzo comparison, but would say Bazzo showed more ability 1v1 than Busslinger.
For me Buss > Bazzo 1 on 1 and edges in almost every facet. We already have Bazzo on the list though and Buss hasn't set the world on fire.

I didn't say he was amazing...I said he's a clearance mid. Kinda like a Temu Judd.
Could be okay if put in a new environment, bit of confidence back.

Hustwaite is one that I'd be going after (without costing too much currency)

Hustwaite is a serial butcher

Sounds like his manager has leveraged our interest nicely into a big payday for his client

Not surprised in the slightest that he’s staying with Collingwood as he could conceivably retire eventually as a 2 or 3 time premiership player
Not for the fist time either.
I'll be taking all reports of quality players wanting a trade back to WA/West Coast with a grain of salt until we land someone decent

The problem with getting an end of round 1 PP that must be traded is that teams then have you over a barrel because it's lose it or lose it. That's how you end up trading it for Tucker or Logue or whoever it was.

Anyone thinking that Phillips or Robertson or Erasmus are going to come in & be our Redden replacement need a reality check
Redden was a proven consistent AFL quality mid when we traded. These guys are anything but.
Sure there's a remote chance it happens, but it's highly unlikely.

Robertson has flexiblity like Redden.

Phillips and Erasmus are inside mids and only that.

All three ikely better than the 3rd rounder required to land one of them?

But will cost more in $, and none are likely to be in our midfield rotation come 2027 all going well.

Not super keen on spending the cash on improving our WAFL myself (although that would be a good thing), but I think its one where reasonable people can disagree.

When you have a gaping chasm in your salary cap and nowhere to spend it what does it really matter?

Picking up any of those players up is not going to affect us signing anyone of talent moving forward.

Money is not the issue, getting anyone of worth to request a trade is.

Hawthorn likely thought the same when they let J Kennedy go to the Swans for peanuts.

And Long from the Hawks to Collingwood.

As for dollars. They won't cost much and who else is there to make the minimum cap?

The one thing we have is room in the cap.
