Carlton and Melbourne are funny. They are both going nowhere but don't want to admit it. By the time any of Petracca, Oliver, Curnow, McKay etc. are traded they will be worth cents on the dollar. Oliver hasn't had an elite season since 2022 and the Dees are headed for B2B finishes outside the 8 after two straight sets exits. They have him locked in until the end of 2030 on big money and had a chance to get out from that and didn't take it. Carlton over overrated their list like they always to but the Dees were genuinely good enough before they imploded. Won a flag and had two 16 win seasons. They can't keep running it back thinking it will be 2021 again.

We either need a B grade mid, B+ mid to help our midfield for 3 years in the 23-27yo range for the right cost, 2nd round pick.
An A grade mid in the 23-25yo range that will cost pick 2 that's around for 2030.
And we need to hit the draft for elite talent.
The likely hood of us getting an A grade mid for pick 2 and coming to us are very slim in 2025/26. T Green/S Walsh?

So we are left with finding a serviceable B grade mid in the 23-27yo bracket at the right cost, 2nd round pick and add a bit more for the right one. T Powell/??

Or we are left with serviceable C grade mids that are cheaper and bodies that help our side in the short term and the beagles. Erasmus/D Robertson/Phillips.

We need 1 of what we can get.

Build the rest of the list with the draft on pure elite talent while we are down the bottom and our NGA/FS prospects.
Trade in your D Cameron's, McVee, Busslinger to build and then start adding FA and other players in 2027.
Warner and co.

Fair to say the normally level headed Carlton supporters are taking it well.

YOU ****ING PIECE OF SHIT CHARLIE CURNOW I SPEAK FOR EVERY CARLTON FAN WHEN I SAY WE ARE BOOING THE SHIT OUT OF YOU ON THURSDAY NIGHT! YOU ****ING SNAKE
Lol.

The best thing they could do is offload one of their key forwards because their list is cooked.

What about the part where it says he isn't for sale?

Carlton supporters would burn the joint down if he went for pick 2 I reckon.
They should consider it seriously if it’s offered. Curnow is 29 next year, he’s starting to get injuries and, if Tom Morris is to be believed, he wants out. They’re likely to lose TDK, Cripps is 31 next year. They need to face reality and get some high picks in quickly.

Alright peeps time to rev up the 3 way trade bullshit!

Carlton give: Charlie Curnow, Patrick Cripps
Carlton get: pick 2, Sam Flanders

Gold Coast give: Port R1, their R1, Moyle, Flanders
Gold Coast get: Charlie Curnow, Liam Ryan

West Coast give: pick 2, Liam Ryan
West Coast get: port r1, suns r1, Moyle, Cripps.

Alternatively, Cripps stays put, Ryan goes to Carlton instead, and Flanders comes to us.

Hes been brought up a few times due to his mrs being form WA I believe?

Havent hear anything so just put it to the back of my mind, id take him as long as we arent paying up for him.

Perhaps we figure out something where we dont bid on Annable, let Oscar walk and get Neale cheaper? idk

If Neale wanted to come and finish his career in WA, what would that cost? Hes 33 in May.

Itd have to be next to **** all, pick 50 or something.

I dont think Carlton give up Cripps, hes probably the older player theyd want to keep the most as a leader.

I think its reasonably even though, and if Cripps wanted out I think its realistic

We couldn’t pay him the coin but I’d be interested myself for 2-3 years.

33 in May though, hes still playing good footy but geez youd be nervous offering him more than 2 years.

I wouldnt want to pay more than a late-ish pick, maybe the hawks 2nd for Neale and the Lions 3rd.
Unfortunately theres no QLD kids to offer up to go home because of the bloody academies

If any club could afford to let him go, itd be the Lions. Theyve got so many young high draft pick mids they cant fit them all in

isn't he what we need, I would be happy for a firm 2 years, take on his contract from BRI and offer something back like you suggest.

The cliff approaches

Wait, hang on, we've missed something. This news means that gc are interested in another key forward. They were also previously reported as being interested in pick 2 (Allen compo). Allen is being courted by Brisbane and as such we know he's willing to go to Queensland. Could Gold Coast be trying to pull a Sydney Buddy style move on Brisbane? Would explain their confidence in us having pick 2, if they're the one generating it for us.

The cliff approaches
all comes down to price and draft capital.
2 years on decent coin, take over his BRI contract and offer a token pick back, Hawks 2nd and their 3rd.
Might be a little smoke in the rumour he could be interested in coming back to WA, has apparently put off contract negotiations until the end of the year, when he is usually an early signing?

Hypothetically Walter to us for pick 2
Ben King to who? Cant go to the Pies who supposedly are right up to their eyeballs until next year as a free agent, the Saints maybe? Whatever their first pick ends up at on the table?

Then they send pick 2 and change to Carlton for Curnow

They end up with an upgrade on their KPFs in the short term to compete right now, and they get an extra top 6 or so pick from the Saints for the trouble.

Mega deal: (Its way too early for one of these)
Before all this GCS get Allen as a FA getting us band 1/pick2

GCS
In: Ryan, Curnow, pick 4
Out: Walter, Pick 8, Flanders, B.King, Fiorini

Carlton
In: Pick 2, Flanders, JWilliams, Pick 19
Out: Curnow, Cripps

WCE
In: Walter, pick 8, Cripps, Fiorini
Out: pick 2(from FA), Ryan, JWilliams, Pick 19

Stk
In: B.King
Out: Pick 4(currently)

Ive got GCS overpaying a bit in each part of their deals but thats probably realistic still. They keep picks 4, 11, 18, and whatever else later on to match bids
We end up with pick 1, 8, and 14 still in the first round, plus a shiny new KPF and midfield reinforcements.

Yeah Neale thing has been floated before.

Brissy have the replacements ready to go and Neale could have two flags and get the family home and get paid ridiculous for his last few years.

Makes sense if that’s what Neale wants.
