Gettable update

Lindsay interviewed, seems like a good kid.

Harley, $23m deal, signals Harley’s intent and open to doing a short term deal with the option to go super long term. Gives Harley 5 years to see how it’s all looking at the Eagles. Clubs are all still interested in Vic led by the Hawks and Cats.

Judd McVee felt like all year he was staying on a 2year deal. But it’s about hit rd20 and the noise is rising. Is weighing up a move back to WA (or SA where his GF has links) Was a mad Eagles fan growing up and has a relationship with Mini but Freo more likely at this stage if he moved back.

Alex Davies open to moving and seeking opportunity at another club even though he signed last year.

But freo more likely.....thats from his manager.

Analyse that.
We haven't put enough work into him
We haven't stumped up enough coin to trump freo offer
The manager is doing the dirty work for the dees trying to get a higher pick for the player. Relationships matter.
We are firmly in the box seat and it cloke and daggers.

Because his wife wants to be close to her family to help bring up the kids and the kids get to be around their grandparents.

He has a year to run on his current contract after which he will head back to Perth.

If he moved at seasons end and was able to add a couple of years on to his earning and we can afford more that Fremantle.

Tick for him and his family. :whitecheck:

Brisbane clear a big salary out of 2026, so they have the coin to chase Oscar and Draper. Tick for them. :whitecheck:

West Coast get some immediate highly experienced help for the midfield. Tick for us. :whitecheck:

Thats the thinking and reasoning behind the rumour.
totally take him in a heartbeat for 2 years, what do you think would need to go back the other way, considering if it happens we are both being friendly with OA and Neale deals?

All sounds plausible but I have my doubts as to how realistic it is - especially if Brisbane do win another flag this year as there’s no chance he’d leave with the prospect of being part of a three peat on the table

It’s getting traction. The pod now even using it for sound bites.

Well let’s hope Neale listens to his wife more than I do to my missus

He’d be a near perfect fit for us - 2 years of Neale, 3 if we’re lucky, before Warner comes across at the end of 2027 to join Harley, Hewett and co. would be quite something

I would love nothing more than to to bid on Uweland, Patterson and Annable with our first three picks. Time to send a message about this nonsense.
Totally agree and would love their clubs to decline. Annable and Patterson would be a welcome addition to our midfield and Uweland would slot onto the wing. In an open draft they are the standouts.

I really like the idea of Curnow to GC.

GC: Lose Walter, Pick 8, Receive Curnow, Pick 2, 14 ~20
Carlton: Lose Curnow, Get 2 and Bailey Williams
WCE: Give 2, 14, ~20, Bailey Williams. Receive 8 & Walter

WCE Still have pick 1 and 8 and are holding hawks second just in case someone bids on an NGA before that pick or there's a massive slider.

Secondary approach us for pick 1. Pick 6 & future first for pick 1.

Go to the draft with 6,8. Miss out on Lindsay and Cumming imo and Sharp probably still there as whoever takes the punt early as a vic club will likely prefer the size and Victorian player in Greeves.

So it really comes down to who people would want in either scenario but it would certainly allow WCE to start developing Archer Reid as a ruck or KPD and gives a next gen forward for as soon as next year.

Still end up with 2 high end first rounders next year as well plus NGA and end up with what ended up being pick 1 and 3 in 2023. Which would mean 2 first round picks in 22,23,25,26 plus a traded in top 3 pick player to replace someone we're already losing.

In the hypothetical world in which we obtain McVee, Cameron and Neale in this years trading period our fortunes would be instantaneously changed. I know they’re not long term acquisitions but that kind of support for the younger boys is invaluable and would allow them 2 years of development without the world being asked of them. Also means we win 7-8 games next season, would be a breathe of fresh air for Ginbey, Hough, Hewett, Harley to experience that winning culture.

So in other words, get it done without touching any of our first rounders👀

Wonder if we'd offer Neale a player coaching/development transition package. As opposed to promoting from within, at least Neale has put a career together playing at multiple other clubs so brings a lot of outside IP.
100% they would if it got Neale over the line.

How do you report a post again?
GIve up pick 2, 14, 20 and BAiley WIlliams for Pick 8 and a player in position we actually have young developing players in?

Jesus christ.

this, hypothetically.
WC list management, this make it reality.

The assistance he is advocating for (a couple of rookie spots and a temporary tweak of the rules with NGA for us) is pretty mickey mouse. Maybe a 10% chance of resulting in a player that ends up being best 22 for us. This is what you do when you want to look like you are doing something to help a club but not actually do anything.

My theory is that having more or less secured guarantees from the AFL that we won't get any PP's this year the Victorian media are now looking ahead to this time next year when the issue will likely come up again and this time with an even stronger argument behind it if we finish bottom 4 again next year. And so they want they AFL to give us this more or less worthless assistance this year so that this time next year they can use that as an argument against a PP in 2026. They will say "we already helped you out last year, we gave you an assistance package and you can't have assistance two years in a row etc etc".

They know the argument for giving us help is going to be there for another few years and is going to look even stronger as time goes on. They know the AFL at some point will likely have to do something to help us to preserve some appearance of even handedness. So they want to control what that is and make sure it is something very low level. Once this is given it forms the basis of an argument against any further assistance like a PP.

The level of Freo tears if Neale came back to WA to play for us would be off the charts and worth any amount of coin we would have to give him.
My sentiments exactly.

If I were Mini in that scenario it would become my life's mission to ensure Neale won every Ross Glendenning derby medal between his signing and retirement.
