Former Lion and Eagle Alex Witherden helped set up the initial contact between Brisbane and Allen late last year. He played a critical role as a conduit & selling Brisbane (the city) to Allen.

As we all thought that he was thinking of leaving last year.
If Witherden stopped him going to Hawthorn instead, then I can't really be mad.

ha I just asked this exact question on the injury thread without seeing your post. eerie

Must have Snake on our mind lol
Could be our most important player next year, he and Yeo just have to get fit and healthy and stay fit and healthy.
So, so important.

Totally undermining the relationships. This is gubby Allen at his finest. Just ask the pies about his time with them.

Can’t remember where I read it but someone pointed out that Allen has a habit of blowing up salary caps - left Collingwood and Gold Coast in a mess TPP wise

West coast
Lose Pick 2 + pick 13 + Future 2nd
Gain Pick 3 + Pick 6 (ESS) + Young

Richmond
Lose Pick 3 + Young + Future 3rd (Rich)
Gain Pick 5 + Future 2nd (WCE) + Pick 27 (ESS)

Essendon
Lose Pick 5 + 6 + 27
Gain Pick 2 + Pick 13 +Rich Future 3rd.

It means we don't go for suns picks.....
I would do that if we got 5 and Richmond 6
Seems a very good deal for Richmond otherwise and essendon pay overs but is the price you pay to get into the top 2

Leaving us with 1 3 5
Rich 4 6 27
Ess 2 13

Who do we target at 3 then?
Im more than happy with going into the draft with 1,2- taking Durrsma and CDT... then moving up to 7 to take Sharp

Do we need Aleer and Young? Surely it’s one or the other.
Depends how they see Ginbey. Do they want him playing on the big boys. Same with Brock.

Depth chart
Edwards
Young
Brock* (Key back or 3rd defender?)
Bazzo (is he up to it)

Ginbey can but probably don’t want to go down that path. Need another imo, they may go down the draft path for it.

Young will be much cheaper, and I don't think he's any worse. Let Aleer stay at the Giants.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see Collingwood swoop in. They need KPD help for Moore and they chased Silvagni hard without luck.

Saints probably actually watched his last few games for GWS and realised he's bad at defending.

Reckon Port will come in for him. They showed interest earlier in the year.

I thought Gubby was at the Giants. GWS had salary cap issues so points stands

3 or potentially even 4 first rounders
4 NGAs or F/S who I would like added to main or rookie list depending on how the draft falls
Dev
Young
Starcevich
Livingstone (if we keep him which I hope we do)

In a draft thats not particularly deep I'd prefer assets next year when the WA crop in particular is quite strong.

I'd prefer to have a spot open just in case a Shanahan slides and we can't believe our luck.

Doesn't mean we use the spot if there isn't a player we are keen on.
But to go into a draft with our hands tied limited to 3 picks isn't good planning.

Yeah sorry he was GWS not the suns

Not that the Giants didn’t also have cap issues

I think you are possibly answering your own question there.

CDT isn’t popular in here and i understand the hesitation with blokes that are 200+cm going early in the draft. His talent is undeniable however. Quick, big tank, strong in the air and contested ball in general, good kick of the footy and actually links up well in general play and makes decent decisions.

I think if the Eagles rate him as the best or second best prospect in the draft we should take him. Don’t split the pick in that case.
Not a ruckman and shizzen vertical leap.

Repeat after me: not a ruckman.

No wonder we dont rate him in here.

But but but..... say it again: he is not a ruckman

Chesser
Dick move by St Kilda

With Lyon, SOS and Gubby Allen running things there it hardly comes as a surprise
I called this earlier, although I thought it might happen to Ryan. They committed all this money to Nas and TDK and Silvagni and then Flanders ended up picking them, now they're light on draft capital and probably cash-strapped. Especially if they aren't able to shove Steele out the door, as seems like might be the case.

Hopefully this bites them in the arse in future years with agents not feeling like they can take the Saints' word on good faith any more.

We won’t try for Aleer.

But to answer your question I do think I’d rather play that duo over Edwards, Edwards is a key defender who can’t even defend 90% of today’s forwards hence why Ginbey was taking teams primary forwards, he’s okay as an interceptor but lacks the athleticism and foot speed to be great at it.

Aleer has some pretty big flaws but ones that can be worked on due to how insanely athletically gifted he is.
