2025 Draft Order

Current Draft Picks:
Round 1: 1, 2, 13
Round 2: 34, 41
Round 3: 53, 58 (These picks are in excess of available list spots so will be forfeited if we don’t consolidate our 2025 picks up the order or trade some for future picks)

List Spots Available (39 of 48):
• Main list (33 of 38) - 5* (in: Starcevich, Young out: Allen, Ryan, Chesser, Hunt, Petruccelle, Jamieson)
• Cat A rookie list (5 of 8) - 3* (in: Robertson (pending), out: Rawlinson)
• Cat B rookie list (1 of 2) - 2 (out: Livingstone)

* Based on Dewar being upgraded after the maximum 3 years on the rookie list. Hutchinson may also have been upgraded but this isn’t confirmed - if it is we will have 4 main and 4 rookie list spots open

* Matthew Clarke has stated we have 5 main list spots

Matt Clarke wraps up the trade period - 6PR

If Merrett wanted to leave Essendon, he had to attack Essendon publicly. Essendon would be to forced to release him as it stands all the power is with Crazy Vozzo and Rosa.

Still holding out for Four in the top 10!

Can easily see them top 4 next year unfortunately.

Especially if Will Day stands up.
Anything is possible but a few things to consider.

By finishing top 4 they will have 3 double ups against Lions, Cats, Pies, & Gold Coast.

If they do not get Merrett then lose Jiath as well as Worpel then their list is weaker than last year.

Where as

Crows add Ah Chee

Brisbane add Allen & Draper (lose Starcevich & Ah Chee)

Fremantle add McVee

Geelong add Worpel

Gold Coast add Petracca & JUH (lose Flanders, Ainsworth & Buderick)

GWS add Oliver

Swans add Curnow (lose Florent & Hayward)

Saints add TDK, Silvagni, Flanders, Ryan

The only teams in the top 12 that didn't improve their lists are Collingwood (3rd) Dogs (9th) Carlton (11th)

Injuries will always play a big part but i'd have to think the Hawks would be worried how many team around them have improved their 2026 squad

Who would give us a F1 for 13?

Maybe Geelong if they think that would unlock Curnow deal. But otherwise i don't see it. Even that I'm sceptical of because Blues don't want 13 as will be eaten up by Dean bid.

They might also do it so could move for Marshall.

Having said that i don't want their F1. It's likely to be pick 17 or 18 before it gets pushed even further out with compo picks.

Port.

Yep, really need to start thinking about players rather than pick numbers at the pointy end.

CDT and Farrow/Greeves for Sharp and Cumming? Absolutely.

Not sure both will be there though.

If i was to guess Demons would take Robey at 2.

Tigers then probably just take Grlj and trade 4 to Blues who would take CDT.

There's every chance Bombers take Schubert and one of Sharp or Cumming to pair the SA kids. They may take Taylor but i think they would see the benefit as we do in adding a couple of team mates.

Your a disgrace getting so emtional and unhinged over a game TBH.

Esssendon traded with the "win and shaft teams in every trade mantra". Act like dicks in every trade negotiation. Where did that get them?

Hawks walking the same path......made a prelim and hit the ceiling and now oppo clubs are making them pay overs.

Can see players and managers steering clear in the near future as they are difficult to deal with.

As opposed to a club that isnt anal in attempting to fleece opposition every single time and get deals done and move on.

I think the point being made by the likes of Priddis is Done, is not the zero sum end game you seem to be claiming (i.e. "win and shaft teams in every trade mantra" and "in attempting to fleece opposition every single time and get deals done and move on").

But rather there is a few on here would really like to walk away from a "deal" with just a hint of self satisfaction that we may have, just once, got a teeny, weeny little win.

Surely that's not too much to ask for?

And if somehow we ended up with some more and gave out an all time fleecing ...... I'll take that as well.

Now we've got our big fish on the hook in Dev, who's the next mature age recruit?

I'd probably have these guys in this order, but probably only excited about the first two tbh.

Ted Clohesy
Tom Blamires
David Swallow
Finlay McCrae
Harry Schoenberg
Oskar Smartt
Tom Berry would number 2 on the list. No nonsense hff that applies pressure and can lay a tackle.

PS Good mates with Walter too for 12 months planning

I know a few have given some summaries of the list but im still confused as to how many of these guys its likely we can take given we have the 4 extra spots

About a month back an apparently a carlton itk said we were looking at splitting pick 2 to carlton, has there been any updates on that?

But is he quick?

If not he sounds like Culley.

Big bodied mid.

To be talked up at pick 2 you need to be reasonably quick surely?
Had a fractured collarbone when he ran his 20m. Did 3.12. Looks quicker than that in game though.

I don’t see Carlton having the capital to make that happen unless it’s a byproduct of the Curnow trade

Happy Dyson Sharp day today!!! In about 7 hours we will see if we hold pick 2 in which case I'm convinced. Welcome Dyson you were always the one

People joke about trading 2 on the day LOL. Sure sure. Pie in the sky stuff.

People need to learn to connect the dots

Can't wait to see him in the blue & gold alongside Sid Draper this year 🥰

Oh, wait....

There is also a lot of misunderstanding (or maybe just disagreement) as to what a win looks like.

41 for a former 1st round pick sounds poor. 41 for a guy who was getting delisted half way through the season is a massive win.

38 for a 27yo key defender who still has improvement but is probably better than most if not all of our current KPD’s (noting the draft is not deep, and KPD’s are at a premium in the current environment) = a win

But that KPD for a former 1st round pick AND a pick downgrade frames it as a loss.

Baker the same. It could have been Barrass for Baker. Keep pick 3, potentially take Allan anyway. We didn’t clearly win the Barrass trade but it was fair value, and Baker won our B&F and is 100% improving the culture and standards (him and Graham telling Harley he’ll be training with them this pre season is exhibit #1)

Maybe not fleecing the opposition, but we are doing OK (and getting deals done absolutely presents other opportunities to us that may not arise if we faff about arguing over 3 spots in the late 2nd or early 3rd round).

Until someone makes a Dyson Sharp illuminati video i won't believe it.
