Cost himself a good 30 games off his career staying at Brisbane these last couple of years, did Dev.

But honestly, don’t mind him coming now. Bigger body to shield our developing crew, has shown at VFL level in the right role he can find the ball and is a defensively minded midfielder that our midfield group lacks at present. Could see him turning into our next Hutchings and be a really useful player for us.

May get overtaken in time, but right now the right age bracket and will get an opportunity with us he wouldn’t get at Brisbane.

I know he’s a bit of a meme here, but he played in a GF 2 years ago. You can’t blame him for making the decision he did.
What's the odds when we trade him he will say "I always wanted to be a West Coast Eagles player" lol

I don't know what "due diligence" we can do with Starcevich. We don't know how much risk we are taking and we are not going to know. All we can do is limit our liability to something we can live with in the worst case scenario by amending the contract terms.
We'd likely do a risk assessment with a medical team - ideally as part of his medical for the club.

They'd look at his history of head knocks, symptoms, any markers showing up on scans etc.

Reality is any player could lose their career to a single incident (Venables 😭) so I can't see it changing our interest. But we'd be silly to not consider the risks.

Personally, i'm more concerned about the cost in terms of draft capital rather than the contract/$$$ we pay him.

There is a reason Melbourne are willing to pay half his ****ing contract

Depending on what we'd have to give up to get him, I'd grab him in stick him next to Harley in a heartbeat. Especially if Melbourne are looking to foot over half his pay.

My dumb ass would be tempted in offloading our Hawks pick which'll end up being in like early 20's to get him.

Same - would also trust Mini to have a good handle on whether he's worth the risk.

Clubs like Geelong/Syd would snaffle him up for peanuts.

Pay his whole contract and get him for free

Dev coming to WCE years after he should have is quite sad really. Still get him, whatever why not, but gee.

Much more enthused by the prospect of telling Melbourne we’ll eat Oliver’s entire salary if they make it worth our while.

What is the role change? He doesn't strike me as a guy who has a whole lot of utility if he's not playing inside mid. Certainly not someone who's going to be worth anything close to his contract value if you're trying to stick him at half forward or on the wing.
