Hey guys sorry if it’s already been mentioned.
Thought the Oscar Allen deal would of dropped by now.
Could something been in dispute like length of contract and money which is influencing pick 2 ?
Probably all being negotiated/linked with Starc and Dev. Imagine we’ll get them all at same time

Can’t see the point of CDT.

Bloke is neither a ruck or a forward and won’t be any good for years.

How can a team in such a dire state as ours waste such precious draft capital on a player like this.
My point isn’t whether we should be taking CDT, the overwhelming consensus is do not want, I asked the question to frame it if we took one of the highly rated mids with the GC pick would that make people happy even if we took CDT

This board needs to stop obsessing with Sharp, we're not going to draft him.

Every year the player everyone obsesses with doesn't get drafted by us.

2024 it was Draper, we traded pick 3 away and took Bo Allan.
2023 we thought we'd split pick 1 for a bounty of top 10 picks, but instead took that spud Harley.
2021 it was Johnson, we drafted Chesser.
2016 it was Taranto, posters naively thought we were the only ones who saw how awesome he was projecting and he'd last to our pick in the teens.

As far back as 2001 this board obsessed with Polak and raged when we instead took Chris Judd at #3 (there's a fun thread floating around

Problem is we think Ryan is worth a R1.

Saints probably think he's worth a R2.

If we can compromise and Saints give us a R1.4 then I say that's a fair deal for everyone.
FWIW I think a decent placed R2 for Liam Ryan is fine.

Makes more sense to take the two best mids 1-2 then the best KPP (Schubert) at 7.

If we can’t get 7 and are desperate for a ruck I’d prefer take 2 best mids then Emmett at 17 or 24 but I really hope we don’t do that, especially with BVR and Axel draftable next year, noting Axel can’t play until 2028.

COACHES AT COMBINE

CLUB coaches joined recruiting teams at the MCG on Friday and Saturday to get a first-hand look at this year's draft class.

West Coast's Andrew McQualter, Sydney's Dean Cox, St Kilda's Ross Lyon, Melbourne's Steven King and Richmond's Adem Yze were among the head coaches to be at the Telstra AFL Draft Combine at different stages as this year's pool went through its paces.

Interesting. Hands on coaching

One of observations I have of mini is that the bloke seems to have boundless energy for the job. Hard not to like him.

To be fair campaigner, you have absolutely no idea what the club is going to do.

Just like all of us.

Now take a seat. Before i put you down 👊🏽 💤

Since 2022, we have mostly got what we wanted.

2022 we all wanted Hewett and we were divided on Ginbey/Phillipou. Phillipou was taken before us, so not much we can do.
2023 Harley or a godfather deal.
2024 most hoped Bo would slide to us. Many of us wanted Travaglia or perhaps Lindsay but they went well before our pick.

2025 Patterson is a fantasy that I would love to come true but cant see it happening, even if we did bid picks one and 2. Firstly we will never do those bids and even if we did, I'm sure GC can use a future pick, or the way they are selling off players, will find the currency.
Hard to say with this year. Duursma has to be number 1 but pick 2 is a bit of a mystery to what eagles want. Do they go CDT, Sharpe or someone lower down they like.

I wonder if the combine will change the order at all. Robey, Cummings or someone else may blow everyone away with their results.

edit - Stand corrected Phillipou was one pick after Ginbey.

Dumb question, has a club ever bid on an academy kid from another club and got him successfully ?

Plenty of times but not usually at the pointy end. Swans passed on Pies bid on Cochrane between Gross and Grego last year for example who smashed the 2km time trial (6:05) as a big man.

I cant believe we are on the final day of the draft combine and all we have heard is the 2km time trial results. Are all the journos busy obsessing about B Smith and Caros outrage?

Total career goals and behinds scored divided by total games played. Using the same calculation Phillip Matera scored
389 goals 227 points and divide that by 179 games played the result is an average of 2.17 per game
Now that is elite, Watson isn't elite by that comparison. Marc Lecras played 219 games and kicked 441.253 which is 2.01 per game. Ryan is nowhere near elite nor consistent by comparison to those 2 eagles. If Ryan didn't go missing in a lot of games his stats would be a lot better.

That’s a lot of words to say “oops I misread 1.4 goals per game as 1 goal 4 behinds”

Other than the biometric measurements the only testing they have done is the 2km time trial. The 20m, agility etc is about to start.

I used to think Sumich was the reason we kicked so many points. But seeing Phil kicked 2goals 17pts a game, maybe I owe that dope an apology.

The bombers are as desperate as us for mids, so Sharp probably wont last past their first picks, assuming they keep 5 and 6. A few are predicting/hoping they trade for our 1st (Duursma). But if that doesn't happen, it sounds like Sharpe could be a bomber. They are so desperate for mids, they are talking about Andrew McGrath to the middle next year, which has never worked in the past for them.

Tigers on the other hand I've read, aren't as interested in Sharp as they have Josh Smillie who they think is a very similar type.
Recon bomber would be interested in pick 2 for Robey ?
