List Spots Available (39 of 48):
• Main list (33 of 38) - 5* (in: Starcevich, Young out: Allen, Ryan, Chesser, Hunt, Petruccelle, Jamieson)

Why would they take Hawthorn’s first offer? Think the deal does get done but they’ll be able to extract a bit more or make Hawthorn trade up the order - maybe with Richmond for them.

sure, extract more but what else is there? I am shocked that hawks didn't ask for anything in return (that we know of anyway) But it's a pretty good damn offer for a 30 year old who is past his peak who doesn't want to be there.

maybe they are stalling to see if they can get pick 1 or 2...that way distract the masses.

Is it time we get in to the Merrett trade deal with this?

Deal 1:

Eagles give: 2,13,34,41
Eagles get: 5,6,9,62

Essendon give: 5,6,83,Merrett
Essendon get: 2, 13, 31, 41, F1 (Hawks) & Hustwaite

Hawks give: 9,31,62,F1,Hustwaite
Hawks get: Merrett,83

Deal 2:

Essendon give: 13,21,27,30
Essendon get: 10,11,54

Carlton give: 10,11,54
Carlton get: 13,21,27,30

Eagles Draft hand: 1,5,6,9,53,58,62
Essendon Draft hand: 2,10,11,31,41,54
Carlton Draft hand: 13,21,22,27,30,67
Hawks get Merrett

This would be nice:

Ess Get Haw Pick 9 as part of Merrett trade.
Trade 2 to Ess for 5+9.
Trade 13+34+53 to Car for 10.

Draft:
1. Duursma
5. Sharp
9 & 10. Two of Cumming, Farrow, Dovaston
41. Williams
58. Banfield
Very little talk of Swadling... looks like a ball magnet. Do people not rate him, if you do, where do you expect him to go in the draft.

Agree, think about it. We got pick 2 for Oscar who could not carry Merretts boots to a game. The AFL have no idea.
Say you have no idea how fa works without actually saying it….

Oh golly you nailed it…

Hawks get Merrett
thats a worse deal then what is currently been offered to dons.

gettiung both 5 and 6 is greedy.

our play in such a scenario would be 2 for 5 and 9

I don't think the offer will get any better than it is. Hawthorn can't really offer any more. And it is a reasonable offer. Hawthorn will be thinking that if Essendon want to get rid of the Merrett problem this offer will be enough to allow them to do it and not lose face with their supporters, and if they won't take it that probably means that they have decided they won't trade him for anything.

I think what is hapenning now is that Essendon have decided to trade him but want to drag it out to the last hour of trade week because a) Hawthorn might add something extra in (albeit small), and b) it's part of the theatre for their supporters because they need to make it look like they negotiated really hard and got the absolute best deal they could.

Given Hawks position, finals window wide open. Merrett offer is pretty average, given he's contracted.

Bombers would need two R1's in the top ten. Although high chance this gets revisited in 12months, similar to Petracca.

Hawks wine and dine, and then drag the deals out.

Can you imagine the drama in here if it was Harley they were trying to trade for right now.!!

Seeing on reddit we’ve offered 3 years to Ted Clohessy…. Geelong boy?

Anything official on this ?
SUNS CONSIDER BROTHERLY REUNION
OUT-OF-CONTRACT Geelong midfielder Ted Clohesy is attracting interest from clubs searching for more midfield depth.

The 21-year-old hasn’t been offered another contract from the Cats yet and will have to wait until after the trade period when list spots become clearer.

Gold Coast is understood to be considering Clohsey, who could head north to join his older brother Sam at the Suns.

Essendon has also expressed interest in the St Joseph's College product, while West Coast is looking at Clohesy among a range of experienced options with its four extra rookie spots.

After playing three games across his first two seasons at Kardinia Park, Clohesy played nine in 2025, but started as the sub six times this year and has started in that role in nine of his 12 AFL appearances.

Clohesy fired at VFL level around a stop-start year, averaging 27.8 disposals and 8.0 tackles from 11 appearances for Geelong's reserves.

Geelong is yet to re-sign Jed Bews, Oli Wiltshire, George Stevens or Cam Guthrie for 2026, while Mitch Duncan has retired and Pat Retschko and Xavier Ivisic have been delisted. – Josh Gabelich

I think there you have to question how damaging he is. He gets lots of those cheap backline touches without much damage or value. Have to wonder if he would be allowed so much freedom at the next level.

Next minute - Hawks trade out their first (Carltons first)

When Tarryn Thomas trains upper body, he doesn't do 15 chin ups he does 15 "why I oughta's"

Ok, i've googled.

Think will be tough ask to sign up to him, even if he's been given all clear now.
Especially now we all have women's teams. Whoever plans on signing Thomas will have angry women contacting the club and the clubs will predictably bend over for them. Even Swan districts couldn't sign him for this reason. AFL teams have no chance.

Classic snowflakes am I right, not wanting their employer to actively go out of its way to welcome a serial abuser into their workplace.

“We don’t want you to make the environment where we spend large portions of our day threatening and dangerous for no reason.” Change the record ladies.

You can just say 'women', am i right fellas?

That is what blocked him from signing with Swans. They had all but given the ok and then they got a flood of calls. AFL clubs have a lot more supporters, so no chance of him being signed.

Disgraceful, thank god I support the West Coast Eagles so I don't have to be concerned with a club 'listening' to its 'fans'
