“We’ll discuss all the players that haven’t got to their clubs and various things but I spoke to Callum’s manager a number of times throughout the year and he hasn’t been a priority for us from a list need,” Clarke told The West Australian.

Lol, we're going into Round 1 next year with Cripps and Owies, and have lost Ryan in the trade period, but Ah Chee wouldn't be something our list needs.

For free, bar cap space, which ought to be plentiful.

Tiny peen club.

I'm bemused by the whole trade period.

We lost Allan and Ryan, who are both experienced players and clear best-22. And we lost Chesser who is on the fringe.

Picked up Starcevich, Young and might get Robertson.

For a club that won one game last year, that's some decidedly mediocre returns. Yep, we got pick 2 as compensation... which is unlike to help us next year. We desperately need experience, but actually went backwards in that regard. Even worse when you remember we lost McGovern and Sheed this year.

I'm struggling to see how we win more games next year.

Even if we get a bumper crop of talent in this year's draft, we can't expect them to have an immediate impact.

It's going to be grim.

Soon as I saw you name Sheed as "needed experience", I stopped taking your post seriously. Game's gone so far past the bloke that it's not even funny. Textbook definition of a list clogger.

Brisbane are either confident Ah Chee will re-sign with them or there is some weird shit going on between us and them. Why wouldn't they take Adelaide's offer?

It's also strange Adelaide didn't try to do more this TP to get the deal done

I would be pissed if i was Ah Chee. You give years of good service. You are out of contract. Assuming it is the case that he was offered significantly more money at Adelaide and assuming a reasonable offer was made, if Brisbane refused a trade purely because they don't want to strengthen a flag rival then that is a bitch move.
They are being stubborn by design they want to retain players they admitted that's their list management strategy. So they are trying to spook everyone away from trying to poach their players by offering big contracts by doing stuff like todays effort.

Clarke revealed there had been interest in their top order picks, but said it was unlikely that they’d be traded.
“We’ve had a brief discussion with one other club about one or two of those picks but nothing that’s turning our heads at all really,” he said.
“There’s nothing that’s been put on the table, they’ve asked about it, what we would do for it but it’s not up to us to go sell it.
“We’ve got pick No.1 and No.2. We want to use them at the draft, so unless someone comes at us with a pretty compelling offer we’ll be taking those to the draft. It’d be pretty unlikely that we move those.”

Problem is, Adelaide have one of the last picks in the PSD. They could work something out with us but then there's no reason that North or Essendon or Richmond wouldn't just take him. Adelaide can't just make a deal with every club to not pick Ah Chee.
I hear they have cap space. They will restructure his contract to two years and put some insane amount on these two years.
Unless we want to out bid them and the melts on here will be out of this world.

****en bitch ass pussy. Soft as butter
If it was just the player then sure. But you're not just asking Ah Chee to completely change his plans, it's also his wife and two kids you'd need to consider as well.

But that's just what I think. There's still plenty of time for things to play out, and whether any other team just plain doesn't care then we'll see.

Wow! Coming off a one win season, lost our best small forward in Ryan and have little else in the cupboard in that area except Cripps on his last legs but apparently Ah Chee isn’t a list need!?!
Yeah this is the part of the season where the players Clarke values may be different the players you or I value. I 100% agree with you but they have their own ratings. Although he did say they'd review all the players that didn't make it to their preferred destinations and reevaluate.

May be cause for a melt though.

Because another club can pick that player up before Geelong?…
Right, but clubs have generally tried to go along with what the player and his manager want. The last good player go to the PSD was Jack Martin to Carlton. They did have the third pick in the draft but there’s no reason that the club ahead of them (Melbourne) couldn’t have taken him. But they didn’t.

Channel 10 reporting Essendon were asking for 4 first rounders.
No player should ever sign a contract more than 2 years there unless they are certain they will never want to leave. Scum club

Yeah they obviously decided to make an example out of Ah Chee, which is a pretty dick move.

Should be on the phone to Ah Chee telling him we’ll outbid Adelaide salary wise, we have a spot in the 23 for you in your preferred position and you can be a leader for our young group.

He’s not getting to Adelaide in the PSD or ND.
Best take I have seen, that list spot needed would open up faster than the road runner:westcoast:

Not sure what it is with Ahchee only staying a few years at each club . Gold Coast Top 10 pick traded for a late 2nd round and 4th round to Brisbane . I guess Adelaide werent prepared to split its pick to get a trade . Especially if they courted him as early as July . They arent nice guys like our club is

Before everyone melts about Ah Chee, hes likely to put a massive price on his head for one or 2 years according to Twomey.

Sure we can probably match it but is he really worth it? To only leave straight after the deal anyway

Unless we can convince him he wants come here in the next month its pretty pointless

Agree. You could say that Starc in, Ryan out has some weird balance to it. No real net benefit. We get a good small defender and lose a good small forward. Adding Young, I guess means we aren't sold on our young key defenders. He isn't in the Richmond team for no reason though. Chesser meh. All the trades we just leak incremental losses...

Allen pick two we just had a prime age captain walk who will add immeasurably to the dominant team in football. Yeah we get pick two but 1) is it good for footy and 2) can we finally, for the love of god make that pick pay?

Total meh trade period and the big winners are us fans watching Williams and Flynn one again battle it out to lead our ruck 🤢

Happy enough with that. Also seems pretty set on using 1&2 thankfully
From that it sounds like we shut down the Ah Chee talk during the year. I understand if it was a first round pick on his head but he is sitting there now for just salary cap space.

Also mentions with have only 5 main list spots available….. assume maybe 6 if that’s were Cripps ends up. 6 mains and 2 rookie posts with Dev also hopefully rookie listed.

West Coast have five vacant spots on their main list after bringing in Brandon Starcevich from the Lions as well as key defender Tylar Young from Richmond, while they also have the four extra rookie spots as part of the AFL assistance package.

Load up the Brendon Ah Chee PowerPoint preso and change the first name. Job done ✅

We're not chasing Ah Chee straight from Clarkes lips.
Hopefully it’s just ducks and drakes because the logic doesn’t hold up. He’s not a position of need? Mate, every position is a need, so if he’s free, grab him.
