COLLINGWOOD forward Travis Cloke has capped off an impressive season by claiming his first EW Copeland Trophy at the Magpies' best and fairest evening at Crown Casino on Friday night.
Cloke, who showed immense improvement his year to post his best season in the black and white, polled 53 votes in the count to win the prize from Scott Pendlebury and Tarkyn Lockyer (both 52).
Having never figured in contention for the illustrious club prize before, Cloke got the nod in 2007 following consistent year where he averaged 15 disposals a game and booted 39 goals, the Pies' second-highest tally for the year.
He was one of two players from Collingwood to be nominated by his peers for the AFLPA's most valuable player award.
Cloke played every game in his third season at the club, after what could have been considered a difficult off-season where his two older brothers and former teammates, Jason and Cameron, were delisted.
But the 20-year-old went from strength to strength, and while he suffered ups and downs as far as his goalkicking was concerned, his physicality and marking ability made him one of the standout Magpies.
Pendlebury picked up the RT Rush Trophy for second place in the count, after polling the same amount of votes as the consistent midfielder in Lockyer.
In the event that two or more players finish with the same number of votes in the count, the player who has played in the least number of games takes the higher position.
Pendlebury played 23 games versus Lockyer's 25, leaving the latter to accept the JJ Joyce Trophy for third place.
Collingwood's highest vote-getter at the Brownlow Medal – Dane Swan – picked up the JF McHale Trophy for fourth position and boom youngster Heath Shaw picked up the Jack Regan Trophy for fifth.
In what was an emotional night for the club following skipper Nathan Buckley's retirement earlier in the day, Cloke was also given the best player in finals award for his three courageous September performances.
Young defender Tyson Goldsack picked up the Harry Collier Trophy for best first-year player, while the Darren Millane best clubman award went to Nick Maxwell, who also collected the Gavin Brown award for most courageous.
Anthony Rocca picked up his fourth Gordon Coventry award for his return of 54 majors, while player also went to Maxwell.
The Joseph Wren Trophy for best VFL player went to Ben Davies, while the Phonse Kyne award for services to the club was presented to Rhyce Shaw.

Bloody hell, that's a brilliant effort by a 20 year old. Copeland and Best in Finals at the age of 20.

He is going to be a superstar.

5 players in the top 10 who are 21 years old or under...that is amazing and probably a record statistic. Well done to our boys for such a stellar year despite the losses of older and more experienced players throughout the season.

A massively encouraging top 10. Congrats to Cloke. If he can get his kicking sorted he will be awesome.

Pendlebury - 2nd in Copeland
Selwood - Nowhere in Geelong's B+F

Simalarities r striking.

Harry O had a great game V Geelong my thoughts it was his best game of the year. But what do i know.

he played two 'great' games against the bombers and cats. thats about it

makes to many mistakes and has a habit for holding on the ball for way too long.

im not saying his a bad player. just over-rated.

Did you see him against the Saints or Brad Johnson. The kid is 21. He is very much an athlete learning the game rather then an out and out footballer and he is improving at a fairly impressive rate.

For any 21 year old to have negated Riewoldt, Lucas (In red hot form.) Brad Johnson and Paul Chapman is very impressive. He has stopped to quality big men and two quality small men it shows his versatility he will be a great servant for us in the backline.
