Hard to pick, but here's my thoughts;

Copeland Trophy;

1. Dane Swan; Cmon, if anyone else wins it the award becomes as irrelevant as the Brownlow. Swan was the best AFL footballer in 2010, and thus is clearly worthy of winning our best and fairest. HE WILL WIN.

2. Harry O'Brien; Yep, a longshot here, but I believe Pendlebury had a very slow start to the season, and Harry was amazing for the whole season, even when we were struggling a little bit early on.

3. Scott Pendlebury; Started the season slowly, but his second half of the season, finals, and GF Replay performance were better then anyones, even Swans. Could steal the Copeland, but Swan deserves it just that little bit more this season.

4. Dale Thomas; I think his finals series will push him ahead of Didak, like Pendlebury, he started the season a little slow, but he was as good as anyone bar Pendles in the second half of the season.

5. Alan Didak; Would have been a "smoky" to win the whole thing, if not for the shoulder injury that restricted him late and in the finals. Should poll highly still.

Darren Millane Trophy (Best Clubman);

I'd give this to Nick Maxwell, but it's always a hard award to judge.

Best VFL player;

Tom Young,
going on all reports, Young has this award in the bag, although being Collingwood, I wouldn't be surprised if someone else won it.

Best First Year Player;

Josh Thomas,
has to be the winner, no other first year player looked as good as he did, even though he didn't make a senior appearance.

Should be a great night, and we get to watch it live this year too, no matter whether you are there or not.:thumbsu:

Not sure on the criteria, but I would have thought to be best first year player you'd have needed to have debuted in the seniors to be eligible.

Would have to be Blair if that's the case.

Swanny then Alan Didak in second posi. I am glad something Collingwood related is on tonight, its gonna be a big night, cant wait.

We had no first year players who debuted last year in the seniors, Blair was a second year player, so he's not eligible, even though his first year was as a rookie listed player.

It has to actually be your first year at the club, and your first year on an AFL list of any kind.

I'm going Swanny as well, and by a fair margin. I think Luke Ball will poll better than most people seem to give him credit for (possibly even sneak a top 5?) or maybe win the clubman's award. Will be interesting though.

Swanny in a canter. As has been said, seriously, c'mon!

However, what will be interesting is the amount of players that can feature in the top 10. This is one year where it would not be an indictment on a players' performance if he were to finish "low" in our BnF count considering the performances of an abundance of players. You could throw a blanket over so many of them- that is how consistent most have been.

Will be interesting to see names such as Pendles, Didak, Thomas, Maxwell, Harry O, Ball, Jolly, Wellingham etc and how they are all fare.

wonder if they invited Fraser and John Anthony tonight?:)
I have no doubt Fraser, and especially Shane O'Bree would have been invited tonight, even though they are at the Suns now, they served us well for 10 years, so they are welcome back any time.

As for Jack Anthony, I'd say his invitation somehow went missing.:p (And rightfully so).

Nick Maxwell is running a comp through twitter, pick the top 5 tonight, and get a signed copy of his book.

maxy_5 Nick Maxwell

Ok in the footsteps of Harry, the FIRST 5 ppl who pick the #copeland10 TOP 5 IN ORDER, will get a signed copy of my book. Must b in by 7pm!

Can't believe no one has said Presti for clubman. He stepped aside for the GF for the sake of the team! Lock.

VFL B&F: Tom Young.

1) Swan
2) Pendles
3) Thomas
4) Didak
5) O'Brien

Lock that shit in.

Here's my guess:

1. Dane Swan
2. Scott Pendlebury
3. Alan Didak
4. Dale Thomas
5. Darren Jolly

Best Clubman: Simon Prestigiacomo
Best first year player: Josh Thomas
Best VFL player: Tom Young

Yeah, you are 100% right, no way he doesn't get that award, the most selfless gesture from an AFL footballer, well, EVER.:thumbsu:

My guess
1. Dane Swan
2. Scott Pendlebury
3. Darren Jolly
4. Dale Thomas
5. Harry O'Brien

Best Clubman - Presti- His selflessness in the finals spoke volumes about the character of SP

Selfless?

1 - Swan
2 - Pendlebury
3 - Thomas
4 - Didak
5 - Ball

Jolly, Wellingham, Cloke, O'Brien & Shaw to fill out the rest of the top 10.

Best clubman = Presti (Maxwell a shot)
Best firstyear = Thomas (Sinclair a shot)

I'd love to see Luke Ball get a top five finish. He had a great year, did everything asked of him and played such an important role for us. Unbelieveable acquisition. Maybe Ross Lyon should get some type of award tonight? Best off-field benefactor? Best secret supporter? An honourary life membership? His work needs to be recognised in some way tonight I feel.

Yes, I've never understood the hate he attracts on this board. I love the guy. I think he did us a massive favour.

This is my top 5:

1. Dane Swan
2. Scott Pendlebury
3. Dale Thomas
4. Harry O'Brien
5. Luke Ball

Best Clubman - Presti

Best First Year player - Josh Thomas

Forgot about Presti. Even if his "sacrifice" was the only thing he contributed to the criteria for that award, he should have it sewn up, period.

It still brings a tear to my eye everytime I read or think about it.

Can't wait for it to be mentioned by someone (most likely Prez/Coac/Skipper) tonight.

Absolute legend.

Blair won it, so I guess that clears up the eligibility criteria.
