Not sure if this is the correct board for this.

Did any of you see that home video of the cop car running down that "seige" guy? The cops had released a statement about the incident and then the media showed this footage.

The Police claim the man was running at them so the cop car tried to get between the guy and the cops as protection. Well from what I saw the guy was just standing on the gutter hurling abuse when the cop car drove at him. He then tried to run back to the house when the cop car swang into him and sent him flying.

Think the cops may be in trouble over this one!

i see some "ethics committee" want an investigation into the matter. They guy was brandishing a knife hurling abuse at the cops for hours. they couldnt get close. No wonder the cops have had a gutful. They take him down and catch the guy now someone wants them to be held accountable, nevermind the guy with the knife and the ex he was threatening in the house.

Spot on.

Nobody,apart the bozo,was injured.Surely that's a good outcome.
Even his injuries were only minor.

It wasnt so much the way the siege ended that had the cops in trouble it was the denial and the lies afterwards.

Yeah it may have been the quickest way to end the siege but why lie about it afterwards? Thats their biggest problem.

i think its unfortunate that the cops had to lie about it. I also think it's an indictment on our society that the cops feel they have to lie about it also.

I don't follow these things too closely, but one wonders if sometimes the cops are punished more than the criminals they catch if they do not adhere strictly to the book.

Damn those ethics and morals committee people, always asking if things are'morally and ethically' right. F*ck their bitcing and moaning.

Society has standards that dictate how the judicial system works. Society has standards that dictate what are criminal acts. If the judiciary cross the line and commit criminal act or immoral acts then they pay the same(and sometimes higher) penalty as the rest of us.

Dont get me started on how some corrupt politicians get away with breaking the law though.

Ethical Standards Division (just another name for Internal Affairs) have to investigate any incident where a member of the public is killed or injured by police.

The standard procedure for a situation like this is:

The Sate Opposition will call for the Minister to be sacked.
The Minister will announce a full and thorough investigation.
The copper will probably be reprimanded for the furphies in his report and maybe restricted to desk duties for a week.
The other coppers will shout him beers all night at the Imperial.
Next morning he'll wake up in bed with Inspector Falcon-Price's wife.

Relatives of the guy run down by the cop car have defended the cops.Even they think the cops did the right thing.
