I know you feel that way but do you accept that there are people that have never been anti-vax before, that don't believe in Bill Gates conspiracies, that have concerns over these covid vaccines specifically? There's been people that have ended up with issues like myocarditis and pericarditis and that can be a concern without someone being a antivaxer. You actually end up with people on the opposite end of the spectrum that think these things aren't happening and all you have to worry about is a sore arm. I don't agree with the weaponised attacks on people that are just trying to deal with the information available to them.

And before anyone replies, yes I know those conditions are rare, but a risk is still a risk.

The thing is though that in terms of risk it is objectively a wrong decision. When we were still in the covid zero delusion phase I could understand vaccine hesitancy a lot more. At this stage all it shows is a poor understanding of statistics and ability to quantify risk. Which is why the rampant misinformation is dangerous. Seems strange that so many of those with myocarditis due to the vaccine are unverified cases of Instagram influencers however...

Maybe a healthy 30 year old realises that statisticalky COVID is virtually no threat to him?

But getting a needle that has about a 1 in 250,000 chance of anything bad happening is somehow a threat? Sounds like the healthy 30 year old is a dumb campaigner.

Also as has been explained to you a million times already, aside from the objective fact that catching covid is more of a health risk than a vaccine even to a healthy 30 year old, it's not just about that selfish individual. With the vaccine they are less likely to contract the virus, less likely to develop severe symptoms which overall makes them less of a risk of transferring the virus to others.

Maybe that same healthy 30 year old should realise that statistically getting vaccinated is even less of a threat to him, and not doing it will eventually end in him being prevented from participating in society?

There are plenty of verified cases. Here's one for you. This guy's channel is great and very informative.

I'm not denying there have been legit cases. Several billion doses have been administered. Adverse reactions are rare.

I do have doubts about the influencer types as they are almost always anti vax to begin with. Probably most of them work themselves up into a psychosomatic state of anxiety..

As expected the border is shut now and the border bubble community is no more.

Over one case.

'herpa derpa thought you weren't scared of corona'

I'm not. Nobody here is.

I'm scared of politicians scared of corona.

My niece fully vaccinated in UK, young and fit, not overweight was unlucky and caught it, was sick, coughing, exhausted, breathless for 2 weeks bedbound and still not feeling 100% weeks later. Maybe she was one of the unlucky ones.

Maybe?

She almost certainly was going by statistics.

Imagine not getting a whooping cough/diphtheria/tetanus jab with a baby on the way because whatever insane reasoning that buffoon in this thread throws out.

This is actually pretty common and it was pre-Covid too. We had a handful of family members on both sides refuse to get it before our son was born in early 2019. Total pain in the arse, in the end we just decided they couldn’t see him until he had his own shots. Massive shitfight ensued of course but what are you gonna do?

The world has always been full of loonies, Covid’s just kicked them out of the closet.

Oh man I was absolutely keen for that shitfight but everyone fell into line without a whimper.

That’s pretty lucky. Almost everyone I know whose had kids in the last few years have run into this with at least one family member. I mean it’s a easy fix but man it triggers the biggest entitlement shitfit you’ve ever seen.

You would think someone in Canberra would be watching this...

The Australian Government needs to ramp up it's booster program before bowing to the likes of Turner, Joyce and other money driven lobbyists. The efficacy of the vaccines drops away after 6 months and a flood of tourists and overseas students infected with the virus is a real risk even to the vaccinated.

They don't care.
They'll worry about that after the election

I thought we were just talking about statistical risk, not ethics or societal outcomes?

Yes 6.8 billion doses

Statistically getting the vaccine is safer.
