Don’t agree that the species is a failure but otherwise this is one of braves occasional good points - why are we doing so much to incentivise people to breed? It’s unsustainable. Over the last 100 years the worlds population has quadrupled. We should be taking the welfare we hand out to families and redirecting it to singles given they are making a sacrifice for the greater good
Look up total fertility rate and the associated forecasts.

Most models have us peaking at around 10 million then reducing/stabilising. Very few countries are currently out of control in terms of population growth.

We also have enough resources easily on the planet to sustainably keep 10 million going, if we were to reduce wastage, overconsumption, and incrementally increase things like production efficiency and renewable energy.

NSW and Victoria will open their borders to one another from 11.59pm on Thursday, the states’ premiers have announced.
Dominic Perrottet and Daniel Andrews issued a joint statement earlier that evening saying the decision was part of normalising living with Covid-19.

For the first time in more than six months in Victoria, all local government areas in all states and territories across Australia will be “green zones” for the purposes of entering Victoria.

There are no requirements for fully vaccinated Victorians entering NSW, unless they have been to a place of high concern in Victoria

If there’s a chance that having kids puts you in the ‘need help surviving’ category, then don’t have kids. Especially, don’t go and have 3 kids.

Thanks for listening to my TED talk.

One day, when you’re older, you’ll realise that life doesn’t always go to plan. When you do, you’ll be glad you live in a country with a broad reaching welfare system.

Nope sorry boober out on the street for you and your family. Also this won’t have any negative implications for broader society that’s for certain! Your misery and the misery of thousands of other homeless families will exist in a vacuum away from all the good planners. :drunk::thumbsu:

I think we could handle 10 million

How old do i need to be to have this realisation?

A lot of the recipients of your broad reaching welfare system, continue to pump children out like they are going out of fashion.

I am not against the welfare system, but i guess i am against people breeding when they are serial recipients. Nothing ground breaking there i would think.

Old enough to reach a maturity level that surpasses News Corp sound bites.
Old enough to have experienced first hand how an individual's life circumstances are not always a result of poor choices.
Old enough to have empathy for those who don't have what you take for granted.

Which is clearly older than you are now.

"A lot of recipients"
"pump out children"
"against people breeding"
"serial recipients"

Mate, you sound like Pauline Hanson. You're one step away from recommending sterilisation for those with low incomes.

No, there's been many people who think like you do that pop up now and then.
Thankfully we seem to have kept most of them in check since 1945.

Apparently some Australians may no longer feel safe here. 🙄

'Asylum', ****ing lol. 1000% chance the douchenozzles responsible for this don't want to let actual refugees and persecuted people into their country. But apparently they're happy to open to the doors to Aussies 'fleeing' from not being able to go to Kmart.

I don’t recall saying that an individual’s life choices are ALWAYS a result of poor choices, just that a lot are.

As with most that criticise mainstream media, or at least lead with that in their response, you pick and choose which elements of a response suits your counter-argument, then proceed to hammer it with references to right wing nutters.

I am perplexed that you could compare the nazis and pauline hanson to someone who thinks that serial welfare recipients shouldn’t continue to breed when they can’t afford to live day-to-day without hand outs. Nice try though.

I'm going to let this speak for itself and just pop you on ignore.

Eugenics (/juːˈdʒɛnɪks/ yoo-JEN-iks; from Greek εὐ- 'good' and γενής 'come into being, growing') is a set of beliefs and practices that aim to improve the genetic quality of a human population, historically by excluding people and groups judged to be inferior or promoting those judged to be superior.

Where did i say anything about improving genetic quality? It’s nice that you can google dictionaries though..

Definition of ad hominem (Entry 1 of 2)
1 : appealing to feelings or prejudices rather than intellect
an ad hominem argument
2 : marked by or being an attack on an opponent's character rather than by an answer to the contentions made
made an ad hominem personal attack on his rival.

See, it’s pretty easy

Sweden still practiced Eugenics till the early 70s. Sweden does have a lot of hot women.

Money from Taxes > Money To Welfare > Welfare Spends Money (which pays people who pay taxes) > Cycle Repeats

Welfare is shitty, but it's certainly not completely shitty and it's 'burden' is overblown as most of the money just recirculates. I don't like or want more undesirables as much as the next guy, but welfare is a safety net for a lot of good people as much as those who aren't good people.

This is literally your whole argument in favour of eugenics!
