GarnerSmash time for kicking back and taking it easy mate, hope you are better soon.
Thanks man. I'm fine, just unsure how to approach it with work if i can't get a test. I'd rather not take the chance of infecting peeps but would like some certainty. I never get anything more than a sniffle, never had the flu, so don't know how sick i will get if i do have it.

14 day lock down on a hunch is ****ed.

I have let it go and I've let it go by choice.

That's your choice, but it is giving up.

It is the result of a very clear political strategy.

Truth still exists. Two plus two still equals four.

I'd suggest giving up Facebook if you are on it. It is the worst. Twitter is bad but Facebook is evil.

Should have sick leave accrued, go to doc, tell them what the symptoms and get a docs note. All you can do and plan
I'm sure they will advise if you need testing

If my neighbous, who is clearly symptomatic and is advised by his doc to get a test can't get tested, not sure i will be able to get one though...

That's screwed up mate, hope you're OK.

Not much you can do about it, go to doc and report your symptoms, there is a hotline you can call if you cant get to the doc

Edit: hope its nothing mate

I must have missed the open letter from concerned doctors when they were abusing the shit out of the pricing that made "elective" procedures, like being able to walk properly, too expensive for even people with private health insurance so they have to overload the public health system.

I mean, it is touching that they care but what are they proposing, we weld everyone into their house like China?

South Korea didn't lock down citizens, they just employed social distancing and mass screenings to identify hot-spots. Their population density is absurdly high, it you would disinfect 1000 square km in SK you would cover 10% of the entire nation or an equivalent of 5.17m people so countermeasures are more impactful. That same area is 0.013% of our area represents about 333k people. it is a lot harder to mobilize or quarantine effectively here because the area is so large. Even if we neglect the large part of the arid country, we are just dispersed way too much, we don't have the resources to implement similar strategies without enforcing martial law and we have no legal framework to do so.

But of course my personal disillusionment with the means by which society operates on a social level is because of Orange Hitler, I'm a fool for not realising earlier.

I’m in two minds about India.

I’m taking into account the deplorable hospital system, cultural aspects, extreme poverty, acceptance of death in the elderly and over population.

After careful consideration I’ll go out on a limb. Most of the population will get it without even knowing.

There will only be limited testing of the wealthy, sports stars and politicians.

The population will build an immunity, the elderly will of course have a higher death rate. There will be no panic as the vast population will go about there daily lives as per normal.

They make everything within the country so there will be no shortage of anything.

India in my opinion will handle this better than any other country despite them likely having the highest number of deaths even though 99% of their deaths will not be recorded as Coronavirus.

Take it to the Bank.

Nah, he's got stuff all to do with it.

He's a symptom, not the disease.

If Hillary had won, things would be as bad if not worse.

Social media brain cooking algos helped him get elected sure, but hey, he;'s actually proof that Snowy off the Trams could have beaten Hillary.

If he went away tomorrow, things would be as shit.

Did you read the article though? About the TECHNIQUES being used?

Possible. Or Modi will use it to finish the imposition of a Hindu fascist state.

Yeah, about that.

Like with everything that is reported it's all half 'truths' that allow every possible opinion on the matter, from every angle imaginable, to be validated.

The concept of 'truth' is a distant memory to me at this stage.

There isn't actually any evidence that this particular Republican presidential advisor's claims are true. When the story first broke that Boulton was cutting the team on May 11th, 2018, not a single person in the Republican administration denied the story. In fact, they were basically quoted in the articles confirming its veracity.

The person who actually led the office, Beth Cameron, is adamant that the office was disbanded:

If the team that Tim Morrison claims still exists does so then how come there has been zero evidence of there existence during the biggest pandemic threat since the Spanish flu? Trump pulled a team together that apparently doesn't include members of this team and at no time has there been any reference to them.

Why wait until the 17th March when this has been an issue for 18 months and confirmed by multiple fact-checking organisations, before correcting the record.

Tim Morrison has a reputation as a highly partisan player. In a post-truth presidency that has such little regard for facts and truth, I am highly suspicious of this guy's claims.

Good to see you're regurgitating AOC's talking points now.

A bit of perspective. It was Scott country in Indiana. A population of 23870 (Indiana's is 6.69 million so ~0.003%).

Drug addicts sharing needles caused the spike and needle exchange programs were illegal at the time in Indiana. Research shows that the pros outweigh the negatives. Saying he made the AIDS epidemic "so much worse" is hilarious when it went from 80-200 people in a year. A spike in drug activity in a small county is Pence's fault...
Except he was specifically advised by the medical experts to introduce a needle exchange program an ignored that advice on ideological grounds. After the spike in HIV cases, he belatedly did introduce one. A 150% increase in infections seems pretty material to me.

Confirmed as cancelled.

Premiers baby!!!!

Time to hit the beers, we've bought a slab of Corona to mark the occasion. 😁
You're premiers mate, let your hair down, 'a slab' is not enough!
Unless you are the only drinker of course 😀

Have you had contact with anyone you know has tested positive? If you are feeling shit the odds are still higher that you have the regular flu. I hear the hotline is near on impossible. Try giving your GP a call.

No legal framework, but there are historical precedents, not that’s worth much in this situation.

I feel fine mate, except for a bit of a headache.
Our neighbour had all the symptoms, his doc said he most likely had it and sent him to be tested but they knocked him back. He told them that he had contact with people who had been to Asia etc because he has them stay at his place but couldn't confirm if any of them had it because of the transiatory nature of their Airbnb relationship. In a situatuon like his it seems strange to me that they wouldn't test him. As a consequence i am now unsure if I should go to work because if his experience is anything to go by there is zero chance i will get tested.

So my upstairs neighbour runs an Airbnb from his apartment, and has international travellers in and out all the time. Late last week he started feeling sick, sore throat, aches and a dry, persistent cough. Managed to get to a doctor today and they agreed that he had the symptoms. They sent him to to Alfred to get tested.

He rocks up, tells them all the above, and they say no test for you. He's feeling a bit better now though so he's ok. My partner hung out with him a bit last Thursday. She now has a fever, sore throat. So, I'm thinking of staying home from work and going to docs tomorrow with my partner although i have no confidence that we will get tested if my neighbour got knocked back despite having the symptoms. Personally, I've had a bit of a headache and am a bit chesty but otherwise feel fine.

All of us here (4 people) have had a mild respiratory complaint, starting around 3 weeks or so ago. All of us went to three different GP's in the one clinic, were told that there are a lot of people getting those symptoms just at the present and it is partly as a result of the unusual, humid conditions that were around and which help these sorts of viral complaints become more widespread. Not covid-19, the correct term for the current baby causing increasing havoc around the world. In other words just another version of coronavirus.

You claim Snake has had his brain cooked by social media but who hasn't at this stage? Thanks to the internet we've gone from social bubbles being based primarily on locality to bubbles based primarily on people who think the same as us, or like the same things as us, or some other reason for self selection. We're almost all cooked to one degree or another, mate, and society at large is just encouraging us to double down on the habits and thinking that caused it in the first place because people have found out how to make money and gain influence off of it, and who really gives a shit if we're rewiring our brains to turn us into righteous outrage fueled consumers.

I've absolutely given up on trying to find 100% valid truths on almost everything, because I think that it's largely impossible to do so these days, and far too many people (myself included) work themselves into a ******* tizzy trying to defend the ones they identify with and attack the ones that run counter.

Don't fall in to his cliched bullshit.

He is the biggest distorter of information on this board.

Still banned in 15 states in the US. Is Pence responsible for increases there too?

Was Pence to know that a small town of 5000 would figure out how to get around a coating on the pills intended to deter abuse, prepared them for injection and then shared needles to do so?

Still a lot of stigma around addiction and a needle-exchange program does nothing to address illegal drug use. Perhaps their government thought they could stop it using other programs?

At the end of the day, HIV prevention is up to the individual. Pence didn't hand the drugs out to these people. He's not responsible for their actions either.

This wouldn't even be a story if Trump didn't select Pence to be his VP. Instead like all things related to Trump he came under fire. See Brett Kavanaugh.
