Very steady.

And the numbers in Italy are truly terrifying.

Let’s not go down that rabbit hole again.

Indeed, because if you follow his logic far enough down you get to a very hot and unpleasant place populated by the souls of people he defends.

627 people dying in a day. Add to that France and Spain and a thousand a people a day dying in the core of Europe.

According to the ABC, over 10000 dead now. Italy more than 600 dead overnight. This is heartbreaking stuff.

They all would have died anyway!

My mother’s cousin owns a series of farms that produce fresh produce for Woolworths. They have put on a heap of new workers because the demand is crazy. There’s enough fresh produce in Australia, transportation just can’t keep up atm.
Like last Sunday there was no cauliflower, broccoli or carrots left at 10am. So we had a week to get through and I bought a few different types of bags.
Went there last night, none of the above and no frozen or eggs. Plenty of bananas and apples.

John Hopkins has it at just under 11,300. Italy past 4,000 with the rate increasing by the day. Hopefully, that is the peak.

It goes back to the 70s. Her father Ian was president of Richmond during the 70s and 80s. The story goes that Richmond got the massive shi+s that Keith Greig beat Bartlett to win the '73 Brownlow and didn't like it when he won again. They also really hated our recruiting campaign around that time too.
Did her dad come home drunk and kill her cat or something?

I’m not complaining about the extra pink apples and golden bananas.

Italy's numbers in percentage terms of infected people is very high and hopefully we won't reach that level, but it is only a matter of time and we are going to see the numbers start to rise here in Australia.

There are going to be people that some of us, maybe all of us know who will succumb.

And it won't just be all from the older age group that I sit in; a very small percentage will be much younger according to an Epidemiologist from the ANU interviewed on the ABC this morning.

We all need to follow the rules to try to help minimise the impact.

At some point, we will have 20% of the population sitting in their homes with 6 months of food in cupboards and freezers and a week later the supermarkets will be full again. We will be enjoying fresh food on a daily basis while the hoarders are working their way through tinned goods, 2 minute noodles, spag bol 4 nights a week, et, etc

I would rather be us.

Exactly. Even the ones that have grown up in the last 25 years have had that message from their parents.

It gets back to my previous point about most Australians never having experienced a genuine crisis.

While the death rate among younger generations may not be as great as the elderly, they still a significant proportion of hospitalisations. There will be a lot of people who survive with long term damage to their lungs and general health.

Hahaha, swung poor Mr Tiddles right across the living room into the wall.

No way pops, you might fall for the War on Germs lies, not me, I'm a proud independent thinker that does whatever this dude on Twitter with a sweet avatar of Mad Max (who is funded by a US billionaire that's just bought up big on respirator and body bag manufacturers) tells me to!

You pussies stay home and erode democracy, this badass is made of (cough) sterner (cough) stu ... cough cough oh my God I'm sick Muuuuum get me to hospital, the government has to help me.

Me! Me! I'm way to edgy and cool.

Evidently.

Australia and most of the rest of the 'developed' world have swallowed the War on Germs even more than we swallowed the War on Terror.

Apparently not all of us have friends and family with small businesses getting wrecked by this.

Not 'maybe' going to catch a flu which 'maybe' will kill them.

Already losing business which will lead to sackings, scalings back, and closures.

Reality vs scary stories on the TV.

I fell for WMDs and argued with people at the time who were skeptical. I bought into the fear and the 'we must act now' narrative.

I'm not making that mistake again. I learned my lesson.

I'll leave my posts in this thread there for now. I won't reply to the next five or ten people who pile on me for daring to be honest about all of this.

Fear has taken hold of the public, especially those addicted to the internet.

Rational discussions about reality are almost impossible once this happens.
I'm with you mate.

Human via horse from bat killed Vic Rail.

Trainer of the mighty Vo Rogue!

How do I know that? Same as everyone else, because that’s what I’m told. Unless I want to go Alex Jones rabbit hole and dive into why this virus came out of the same province that coincidentally has the China’s virology lab.

I am also abhorred by the inhumane animal treatments that are prevalent throughout China and elsewhere, but to utilise that specifically as the cause of any zoonotic pandemic is disingenuous. You don't have to kill & eat an animal in order for this to happen.

I bought frozen last Sunday because we didn’t have any fresh veggies left in the shelves.

I hardly say I was a moron for doing that

I mean the people who’ve hoarded more then they need.

They have shut the down them down again.

I follow some interesting Chinese accounts on twitter - Carl Zha a good start.

They make an interesting point about the whole eating wildlife.

It is part of Chinese culture because famine is part of the Chinese psyche in a way we can't understand.

There were massive famines China in living memory, and localised famine right up to the Cultural Revolution and the 70s.

It's hard for us to understand, but the idea is you need to stay ready for when famine sweeps again.

I don’t care what they eat. Just have a bit of hygiene.
