That wouldnt be as bad if only poor pensioners are getting the payouts. They are not. All of the pensioners are getting it. those payouts should be going to casual workers who are unexpectedly going to find a large share of their incomes are gone with kids to feed and rent/mortgages to pay. these people are the ones who deserve it.

I also think the reason casuals haven't been named is the govt is working to stop business offloading them full stop. Problem is how to do it when the whole scope is still being figured out (they are most impacted by the 500 shutdown)

If 50% of my city gets infected, that’s 75,000 people. If 5% of them need life support (which is the estimate), that’s 3750 people. For 25 beds.

And then I might not have a bed for you.

The website only lists 5 countries that are of concern, I had/have symptoms and returning from other countries yet the government has no advice, but when you ring the hotline it states two of those countries I returned from as being a reason to self isolate.

I was confused when I landed and even more so when I jumped on the health dpt website..They have no idea wtf they’re doing and the Chief Medical Officer is sending mixed messages. Just ridiculous.

It wasn't comprehension fail, I read it just fine when you posted it. Airline passengers pay for the insurance of having ff capabilities at airports, a sort of a voluntary tax if you choose to fly as opposed to 1,000s of people sitting around for decades on the taxpayers teat, just in case there's a virus.

They certainly helped us out during the 2011 Brisbane floods. Those pumps can move quite a bit of water.

2 of the 4 person team that I work in live overseas, one is currently on with me now, he lives in Thailand and is married to a Thai lady and the other lives in New Zealand with her partner, he also works here.

The one that lives in Thailand now has to make a decision. He has another 9 days on swing, if he flies home to his wife, he can come back, but he will have to self isolate, I assume with his elderly mother who will be in the most at risk of dying category if she were to contract it, and self isolating for 2 weeks doesn't work with his 2 week on, 1 week off roster. He might have to ask the company if he can do a job share role, 2 weeks on and 4 weeks off. He can fly home to
Thailand for 2, fly back and self-isolate at hims mum's for 2 and then come up to work for 2.

The Kiwi couple are on job share, 2 weeks on and 4 weeks off which would mean to continue working they would need to fly home to NZ, self-isolate for 2 weeks, fly back to Australia, self-isolate for 2 weeks (very expensive staying in a hotel or the like continually for 2 week blocks) and then fly up and work for 2 weeks.

Bad times ahead for them I fear.

sounds like the government will now do a fiscal package following my recommendations and help people who are actually being impacted by the virus economically rather then waste money on people are the least affected economically.
