Once this is contained and a vaccination is available, the rest of the world needs to put pressure on China (and any other country) that insists on eating shit like bats, rats and anything else that comes with real risks. Their negligence is fine when it only affects them, but it's affecting everyone now and they need to be held responsible.

Appears it started from “wet markets” where live & dead animals were sold. But no bats - although bats likely the original host & passed it onto animals sold at the market. Still don’t understand how someone could / would eat bats when they are incredibly infectious. It’s plain stupid.

Looks like we are anticipating approx 30% of the population contracts the virus & 0.5% mortality rate. Not as bad as other similar previous viruses however far more wide spread.

Only a matter of time before the first AFL player(s) are diagnosed. Gil already looking at a Coronavirus draft to supplement. He’s an idiot. Just postpone / cancel the season. We are far too complacent.

The AFL have a meeting right now about everything with the clubs.

Grab Kayo. Its only $25 a month. Has every single AFL game live except for the GF. Shits all over Foxtel. Its the Netflix of world sports.

At least a month but I cant see why they would then go back to school because in a months time we will surely have thousands of more cases. Once people are home or sport is cancelled how does it change in the short term?
So long as the infection rate doesn't becone exponential.
I'm no good a maths but the difference between a linear and exponential rate might be something like %20, so the aggregate benefit of the other precautions will determine what people can do.

Schools are also a fairly controllable environment. Kids will generally follow instructions and the environment can be disinfected daily or continuously throughout. Any kid that enen looks like they might be sick can be quarantined and sent home.

To my mind the biggest danger now is public transport.
They should be handing out gloves and masks at every station and on every bus/tram.

It's just about the sponsor and tv contracts. They've promised a 23 round season and taken<spent the money already.
Insurers are also off the hook because it's a declared pandemic now, so he'd be looking at a total loss for 2020.
Almost no business can survive a year without income and since they prop up our club it's a big deal to StKFC too.
Gil the dill has to try and salvage something, it's his job..

Good luck finding any. I always keep some at home but there are none available.

I was at Coles Brighton this afternoon, it was like there had been a nuclear holocaust. I couldn’t even get zucchini FFS.

Stopped at Aldi, Centre road, and not only was there zucchini, there was toilet paper and tissues (halleluyah - the first I have bought in three weeks!) and luckily no one was stabbing any one else to get some, it was all very civilised.

I did try and get some for my 88-year old mother (true, I swear it) but no go - two packs per person only.

*I will share my “haul” with her 🤣

Its walking dead without the zombies lol

He’s trying to manage corporate relationships. He already has the money / spent the money. Next he will apologise to stakeholders stating he made every attempt to get the season going however unfortunately games / season has had to be cancelled.

So we go through the season undefeated

And the Chinese government is now trying to lay blame that the Coronavuris started from a US soldier.....FMD. 🤒

Surely it's just a matter of time until we go into social lockdown, like China, Italy, Denmark as well now.

You'd hope that Scomo would realise after his good mate Mr Potato Head contracted it that just going about business as usual is a fruitless effort.

If our current levels of containment, social distancing and contact tracing (ie around any new cases) then we may avoid going into full lockdown mode.

It is all about how many new cases per day occur. If that remains low, then spread is low and our health system does not get overwhelmed.

If the infection rate starts to become logarithmic they will look to clamp down harder.

However severe measures such as a full lockdown also create a raft of other problems including maintaining supply of food, petrol etc.

Italy had to act so dramatically as they had ignored their problem for too long (infections started in December n Italy) and so they are hoping that a total shutdown will drastically slow the massive spread that they now have.

You can only contact trace when you do not have a lot of infected people to trace.

The more people practice social distancing and even self-isolation (if things start to ramp up) as well as improved handwashing etc then the slower the infection rate will be. On the plus side it will also slash the cases of flu, common cold, gastro etc as well.

HOW COVID 19 SPREAD AND CAUGHT

Ok, as of yesterday I believe the below is a reasonable summary of the latest medical thoughts on the matter (ie from the research). This might be helpful to those that do not really have a grasp on Covid19.

- Transmission can be direct (ie you are coughed on, or you breathe in coughed out air that still has droplets in it) or indirect (ie through touching an object)
- It is transmitted on droplets, mainly from coughing. The transmission can be airborne (not aerosol though)
- It can also be transmitted if you touch an infected person where droplets are, or in their mouth etc (Which is why medical people need to wear protective items when dealing with patients)
- The virus is attached to a droplet
- The droplet is relatively heavy compared to air and so will descend and lay on surfaces. So you can become infected after the infected person is no longer in the vicinity.
- The virus depending on conditions and the surface type can remain alive for days, but is mainly thought to be only hours or less
- Touching an infected object with your skin such as hands will not infect you, BUT if you then touch your mouth or eyes you can become infected (This is is why regular handwashing is so crucial) They recommended to try and not touch your face, rub eyes etc, but in practice this is impossible. So wash hands regularly. ie If I go shopping I was my hands as soon as I return before I unpack (infected hands could spread things. After I unpack I then wash again. If you buy fresh fruit and vegetables wash it.

It is also why surfaces should be cleaned regularly.

- The droplet may stay airborne for 4 m, but typically a lot less say upto 2m. If there is a fan (Not air conditioning) or even wind that distance may increase. So this is why the look at proximity to an infected person in terms of your likeliehood of catching it. So on a airplane for example they will look at passengers who were sitting within several rows of the infected passenger. (ie will recommend 14 day isolation)
- Importantly it is no longer though to be transmitted as an aerosol transmission as it was first though it may be. (ie Aerosols, droplet nuclei (<5 μm),Remain in air for an almost infinite amount of time. Essentially they float around. This is why the Measles is so contagious)
- Air conditioning does not spread CV 19 (The return distances are too long), but a fan may increase the droplet transmission distance

Covid 19 vs the Common Flu

The main reasons that there is more concern about Covid 19 is that:
- people are contagious for about double or more the length of time (ie it is easier for an infected person to infect more people and so CV 19 has the potential to spread more quickly)
- the death rate looks likely to be higher
- the proportion of people that suffer will suffer severe systems is much higher (ie this could overwhelm our hospitals if there are also large numbers of people who become infected. ie Italy right now)
-there currently is no vaccine (There will be but it may be 6-18 months away)

Diseases have their own "grading" in how bad anything is.

We, as of today and last report, basically have 200 confirmed cases, almost half of which are in NSW, and had a direct link to "I left this country and returned" so you can assume initially at least, "poor" decision making initial lead to any spread "locally".

Almost uniquely due to our geographic local, as anyone who works with a global distribution network will likely agree, in these sorts of cases it's a benefit being arse end of nowhere to everyone else in the world given where this originated. What we need to be however, is proactive in what we do, which we've not really done so and are trying to play catch up a bit.

On what we currently know, simply ensuring you are engaging in basic hygiene, and keeping a "wall" between you and the other person where instead of shaking hands, you nod, or fist bump and then wash hands, and you're then golden because you're considerate of others and your own health.

We're "fine" with what is currently happening, but a lot will depend on how this acts in relation to spread and if there's any meaningful relation. It should be fine, but a fair chunk will depend on how you as the individual react to everyone else.

Bro where are you living...
Apologies don't validate contacts..

Thinking long term how many people will end up committing suicide/losing thier life as a result the knock on effects of this? I can see domestic violence cases flying through the roof. I can see many killing themselves of the financial ruin.

Contract to deliver games vs OH&S vs whole of gov direction. AFL are not culpable for pandemic outbreak or natural disasters.

AFL will lose enough money at the gate amongst other revenue streams however I’ll be surprised if they are required or even requested to return tv rights & advertisement money.

It could get messy & there might be upset parties however I feel everyone will think practically & each make concessions.

Looking at this logically, what are the chances 800 odd players, their families, club support staff ALL not getting CV?

Slim to SFA imho so Pluggs, fair call. You may be right here that the Season will get canned part way through.
like i said , send them all to china . and a couple of months later they are all good to play

Ironically China looks like the only safe place to play football in two or so months.
