Seems untenable to just leave them if they refuse to leave which they have.
I watched the police commissioner and he was making all the right noises about protecting the public but the end game here is they’ve essentially called his bluff. I have no idea how many people are on each ship but it’s going to be a nightmare logistically for NSW.
I think behind the scenes they’ll be trying to figure out how to quarantine and repatriate the healthy and treat the sick without overwhelming their hospitals. Nobody else is going to volunteer to share the load, WA completely melted over
the ruby princess and who can blame them, passengers from that ship have spread the virus all over the country.
I can’t help but think if a ship is in your waters when the gun goes off it’s your problem. I’m a short stroll from where Victoria’s first quarantine was established at point Ormond.
The sooner we can get them of ships and segregate them, the less serious cases of the virus will be in the world.
Shit i'd take a couple not showing symptoms at my place for 3 weeks, i have nothing planned. I won't even charge as much as an Ibis.
EDIT:
Wait ....i've just thought about it some more, and done a backflip.
We should leave them moored in a suitable location and make sure they have good supplies.
We should evacuate anyone in a high risk category ( age /medical conditions ) ,we should ensure there are competent medical people on board.
Most of the ships crew would not be high risk.
They should be left on board and monitored. The could even be used to study the spreading of the virus.
Any cases that become acute enough to require hospitalisation to be airlifted.
