Using China as the boogieman this week might not be particularly smart as it looks like they might need their help to rescue the ship stuck in antarctica.

So were concerned the chinese have bases in south china sea, but antarctica is OK?

On topic, some of the"whole person" development my kids got at primary school was fantastic "keys to life"

I seem to remember being stunned and confused most days at school ( and no im not homosexual or depressive or anything, lucky me)

We're concerned with the south china sea, because the US is. Which is why we are buying the F35 duck. Because the USA said it would be a really good duck & hard to kill.

I'm sure if the USA were concerned with the Chinese in Antarctica, they would sell us the F 35 ducks with fur coats to keep us warm down their.

So all is ok, the US will tell us what to do, like in Vietnam, Iraq etc.

Not sure how many 10yo you know but, I can assure they do know and ask questions. The importance lies in the answers we give them.

Crikey but... but... I know climate change is caused by man, and I know women don't use abortion as a form of birth control and I know homosexuality isn't linked to bestiality.
Blind to it- nope- happy to have intolerance about a pollie who is so ignorant. If you seek public office, then at least try for some intellectual rigour.;)

they may have little idea in being able to describe or understand what sexuallity is - but that doesn't mean that they are completely removed and sheilded from it... they have a bit of an idea based on reactions to their own feelings

Maybe, but there is no need to accelerate their feelings, surely they are allowed their childhood .

Wow, who's advocating for tolerance of views?

That is not what freedom of speech is about at all.

If someone puts their views out there, then it's fair game. No one has the right to have their opinion respected.

I'll be honest and say I haven't read completely what the 'Safe Schools' program is setting out to do... but what exactly about it would 'accelerate their feelings' anymore than the sexy tv ads that they already see on a daily basis..

From what I've gathered, it's more about letting them know that 'Hey.. if watching Lance Franklin play footy makes your insides feel weird, where most of your mates say the same thing but about Miranda Kerr, there is nothing wrong with that..."

Tell me if I have summarised that wrong, and if I haven't, what exactly is being accelerated?

How they can do this in the face of the number of suicides, self harm and depression in teenagers about gender or sexuality shows on the metric of "Christians are Merciful" - he fails. My son is a rower - he says the fact that it was a sport at which Bernardi excelled is almost enough to make him give up
 
The religious right's war on gays only really started in the late 80s, early 90s, which was kinda convenient because the commos had just been slain, and Jesus has to be at war with something.

If Bernardi expressed these views on BF I'd say-ah well he is stupid and says things that can't be substantiated. And it'd be no matter, just another idjeet on BF. And vice versa re my views.
Bernardi, however, is a pollie-he wants people to vote for him, he wants to represent them in gov't and to do that, he let's the public know what he thinks about things so they can decide if they wish for him/and his ideas to represent them. So if he says things i don't agree with, I will not give him my vote-so it does matter.
And in fact, if Bernardi had said 'I don't agree with abortion, or I don't agree with homosexuality. I'd probably just go 'wotevs Cory', don't agree and I won't be voting for you. But you are entitled to your opinions.
But he didn't say that, did he? He went beyond that and made claims that are ignorant, offensive and not able to be sustained by reasoned argument or evidence.
So I don't have to tolerate them as I have quite cheerfully acknowledged-so no need to 'look in the mirror' thank you Ripper. ;)

The Christensen slug is an utter disgrace - there must be some Liberal backbenchers could speak out. I fear what the plebiscite election material will be like - the full "man on man leads to man on sheep action" argument will be mild compared to the vile shit that will come out
