You do know that Abetz and Andrews have always spoke out about what they believe in! There is no proof that Abbott is behind it. Turnbull had no spine when he was the opposition leader. Nothing has changed now that he is the PM.

Think you'll find both Abetz ans Andrews were very much in sync with Abbott when he was the leader. The strategy is never to be the only target when it comes to these things as Abbott would know only too well.

Notice you conveniently overlooked the strategic leaking bit. One of the many early Rudd strategies. Also, see on the news tonight Abbott has taken a shot across the bows at our foreign policy re China. Doesn't hurt to take a bit of bark off another one of his enemies in Bishop on the way through.

Think I have been pretty clear with this, but...
Yep I have no problem if someone says they don't agree with homosexuality, or abortion, or vegetarianism, or they don't like Beyonce, or volvos. I may not agree, and I may think they are dopey, But happy for them to have their own views.
When they qualify that viewpoint with this sort of thing: being a vegetarian will lead you down the path of polygamy, or listening to Beyonce will turn you into a practiser of bestiality, or driving a volvo will work as a form of birth control. Then I find myself feeling less tolerant, and more especially if you are a politician expressing these views that are weird, incorrect and cannot be supported by evidence.
I'd like the people running the country to be on Planet earth in 2016. Is that too intolerant of me?

Back on topic. It sounds like your 'intolerance' of Bernardi's views just means you disagree with him, support his right to voice his views, but won't be voting for him.

I had the misfortune to pick up The Australian in the coffee shop today.

Front page, tucked down the bottom, was the start of an article about "education experts" savaging the anti-bullying and student safety efforts.

Goodness me, I thought, I'd be interested to see an opposing view from a knowledgeable person. I am inclined to agree that some school awareness campaigns might be a bit of a waste, but I also know from talking to my own son that some of them hit home and are delivered with thought and humour. Kids seem a bit less cruel to different people than when I was young. Not uniformly accepting, but less cruel. Racism and the like, at my son's school anyway, is dealt with pretty swiftly and with a view to teaching rather than punishing.

So, let's see what this experienced teaching expert has to say. In this article positioned right below an article about the delicate work-life balance of a Sydney billionaire.

Turn to page where the article continues... the "education expert" is of course a Catholic Education bloke who hasn't taught in a school in (if I recall) a decade or more.

And the savaging by this expert consisted of not much more than waffle about "kids won't listen" and other bad arguments.

The video is just giving good advice to forget about what you as either a girl or a boy are "supposed" to do, and just be yourself.

Conservative campaigners are campaigners who would prefer teenage kids committed suicide rather than admit it shouldn't be a stoning offence to be gay.

Foul people. Foul and inhuman.

I was once in the beach cafe in port melbourne with a stiff onshore breeze blowing

Someone opened the windward door an the arranged newspapers blew up , seperated and filled the space of the cafe. I got a great view and it was very funny
