Just want to know what people think about JON and the future he has at the Richmond football club. I'm yet to see many signs that he will break through and perform at AFL level.

Even at VFL level its rare for JON to run and bounce with confidence which I feel is his best asset.

With Moore and Jackson impressing late in the season and now in the VFL finals, I doubt they'll be delisted.

He had the ball snatch out of his hands twice today.

Think it's worth investing another season into him just on the basis that he hasn't had the necessary time injury free to be able to put on the required muscle to play at senior level or even gain confidence at VFL level. This pre-season is a huge one for JON as I think we might find that if he hasn't broken into the senior team by the end of next year it may spell the end of him due to the third tall role being filled (Thursfield, McGuane, Moore, Polak, New Draftee?). His decision making and skill level also concern me but I'm willing to take the risk that it's all confidence related and down to his lack of mass. We've perservered with less talented players so I can see no reason why we shouldn't keep him on especially as I can only really see 5 or 6 draftees/recruits (excluding rookies) coming in and we've already rid ourselves of Gasper, Hall and Knobel.

He doesn't know how to carry the ball one handed or hold the ball under the arm, which always makes him an easy target to tackle.I thought he was meant to be as fast as Deledio, but he just has no awareness

no
that is all you don'y give a top pick 2 seasons then give him the arse unless their is extra ordinary circumstances

Back home to WA in a deal involving Mitch Morton?

I think JON has talent, saw him interviewed a few times before he got drafted, seemed a very young kid if you know what I mean, might be the kind of guy who gets along better closer to home.

Is he even out of contract?

He shouldn't be delisted, 1 more year. Although at this stage he is really behind the 8-ball in his development IMO

I can't believe some of the talk that goes on in this forum about who and who shouldn't be delisted. Is JON even 20 yet? Some players take longer to develop. From what I've seen he has a great pair of hands, tremendous courage, a bit of spite and a few tricks up his sleeve. I think it was Rawlings who said that some of his disposal doesn't come off as he tries to be a little too precise at times. I think of him in the same mould as Michael Johnson at Freo - how long was he on their list before he started having an impact?

What RFC supporters have got to realise is, that this list is 3 to 4 years, AT LEAST, away before it can seriously start challenging for a flag...still a lot of water under the bridge to go

Watch him play, an then you might realize what we've drafted. Mark my words he'll be delisted if not this year next year! His skills are shocking, he fumbles, doesn't run into the right positions and doesn't run hard enough, he was WOG for us today! We need to clear up some spots, don't start getting ride of the Moores and Jacksons of the club.

We need to delist at least 6 players that will leave us with 7 positions (King promoted, gas was a senior). So picks 2, 18, 19, 35, 51 and 67 maybe. Remember we might trade one of these to pick up a Wood or Morton. Then with last spot use it on the PSD.

So who are those 6 going to be??? Schultz is contracted and will most likely be traded if anything.

White
Hyde
Krakouer
Hartigan
P. Bowden (I hope not)
And 1 or either Meyer or JON??? Who would you think?

You havnt included the guys that just retired in Kingsley, Hall and Knobel. Hartigan and Krak will definetly go and then one of White and Hyde if not both.

He won't be going anywhere except to the RFC gym.

The guy hasn't had a full pre-season yet, he was bottom-aged when drafted, he has had a bit of a late growth spurt, meaning he still needs to get used to his developing body, and he was most certainly drafted with the long term in mind. Some of this early career knee-jerk reaction stuff is realy annoying.

Sure, he has plenty to work on, but when you take into account what he has (height, mobility, courage, speed, good mark), i bet the people in the know down at punt road reckon they have a diamond in the rough that just needs a bit of polish over the next season or two.

People just need to relax, take an asprin and call back in two years.

Too true

Watch him play

I have been to almost every home Coburg game this year.

He was listed in our best players today so I doubt you are right in calling him "worst" on ground. He isn't as bad as his internet reputation would suggest, you can't judge him from the 3 TV games you have seen him in. You need to go to the grounds - especially for a better understanding of defensive work and tactics.

You can never read too much into these, he still didn't have a great game IMO but it is unfair to call for his head.

You have to be joking! He should not be delisted at this stage or the brains trust is severely lacking in the former. He isn't even 20. He is now 190+cm. He is still quick and agile. He had stress fractures in his legs over the last summer and so had no preseason. Like most indigenous players (ala Davey) he won't hit his straps till his 22 or 23 years of age. By then he'll be be a gun. Its like having a young plant. Water it and give it the right nutrients and watch it blossom. Be patient. TW said 2009 peaking 2011. It is all looking like that's the likely scenario. The tigers cannot afford to get too impatient and start trading our own for more unknowns. The kid needs a few more preseasons to strengthen his legs and upper body and some good coaching with regards to football and he will help lift us into a long term finals side.
