Ok don't crucify me for asking this question, was just thinking how everyone talks about how big Josh Walkers tank is much like Blicavs, does anyone else think that he could use this to his advantage and play as a tagger or a run with role? I think physically he is as good as anyone we have in the club, big and strong and with his disposal being average at best I could see him him having a crack at a tagging role where disposal isn't the main focus, he's also not the slowest guy going around. He cant seem to get a game in our forward line so maybe its time to look where else he can be utilized.

Well he cant get a game at the moment so the sausage rolls aren't happening.
If he keeps banging the door down they can't keep ignoring him. We've invested this much time in him as a forward to change his role now.

All sorts of things, including this, should be tried at some point. Unfortunately, they rarely are so we rarely find out whether players are more capable than we expect in foreign roles.

Walks is a big unit, solid and has great tank. There are reasons to look at this for sure. Same way you look at painting a Ferrari La Ferrari pink. But you don't do it.

Point being, he has some tools to do it. And seeing Langford go at Sel on the weekend, im sure that Walks could really make his opponent earn it.

And being 196, he's very tall. Im just not sure he would not get lost in the clearance traffic as agility is, IMO, not his strong suit.

For mine, something you could consider and thank about but not actually do.

dunno if Walker could tackle that role or not Grimoz, but I was just thinking today how most of the better taggers are big-bodied types who are able to simply stand in front of their opponents and block their run effectively; Ling, Crowley, McCaffer for example.

Ha ha ha ha.
Wish I'd seen this thread earlier.

Can't get the ball down there for him to kick those darned sausage rolls, unfortunately.
We need to fix the middle of the ground first- wouldnt mind him at CHF with Clark in a pocket, then swapping.

He's a bit of an old fashion footballer in years gone past you could have started him in the centre square(except we didn't have one) for some grunt then have him drop back and play a kick behind the ball, that would possible suit him pity it's not the 70s.
Back to the question as a tagger no not for mine,he will run all day but he would probable have to with the turning circle of the Queen Mary.

There are some things that are evident enough that they shouldn't have to be tried - in this case, Walker's best attribute is his contested marking when running at the ball. I think that puts him pretty clearly in the "large forward" bracket.
