The changes that have been forced I.e. shorter quarters, longer breaks, more interchange per minute of game time seems to have made the game a better spectacle generally in games I've seen

Essentially more interchange and shorter games will help sides like us to go in bursts

if we end up with mix and match teams will be interesting

maybe Craig bird will be back

Lucky for us, it looks like more and more data is mounting that hydroxychloroquine is the best treatment option and has cleared symptoms within days of some cases.

Also there is a article (not yet peer-reviewed) that suggests that people with A blood types are much more susceptible to the virus than other blood types, O blood type is far less so. Something to do with the different antibodies in the blood. Not peer-reviewed but interesting if true.
 
If you are allowed to travel for work, let them go and play

Yesterday was the best 2 hours of my decade so far I would argue and just being able to flick and check scores or have it on in the background while I do other things has been a bloody godsend

Scientists in Singapore are also discovering that some patients virus genomes are showing a weakened, mutated version of COVID-19. The same type of mutation that weakened and then eventually burned out SARS. Might be starting to see a slow beginning of the end if accurate.

Just some positives among all the doomsday.

One of the studies on this was pretty compromised. In the group that took the medicine it was said that 90% recovered the control group 0% (in the 6 days of the study).

However deep in the study documents indicated that there were a further 6 patients in the medicine group that were excluded. I can’t remember the specifics but these people “withdrew” from the study for either just leaving, went into hospital in a serious conditions, or died!

I also read another article that suggested significant side effects and occasional neurological damage.

In saying that I really do hope it is an effective treatment or we find something similar... quickly.

Absolutely lets fully check it out before we use it... I'm sure a lot of you are old enough to remember Thalidomide... What a horror that turned out to be!

surely a few days ago when the government and afl met they knew borders /travel issue was on cards as well.

That's good news for me if true but I'm more concerned about older folks like my parents and others I know.

As long as players stay in relative isolation during the week, the risk of a player actually catching the virus is fairly low I would have thought. They are
professional athletes who are required to keep themselves in excellent physical condition as part of their job.

But as others have said, it's all over once a player catches it, or new restrictions are imposed which make it physically impossible for the season to go ahead.
