Not sure..yes you are not sure. Shouldn't have go at someone without doing some research.

umm listen precious, what do you think the meaning of the words "i'm not sure" are? do they have a different meaning in your world?

if you think that's having a go, you won't last long here with that delicate constitution.

And in regards to people talking about Jolly (regardless of him returning to Melbourne), you would had beat the offer of First round pick and pick 46. Don't we needed to give up that just to get a 2nd Ruckman

are you calling Darren Jolly a second string ruckman? really?

I don't know what you mean by forced moves? we let him go, and tried to make him out to look like the bad guy for wanting an eminently reasonable contract

Mumford got a bigger contract than we were prepared to offer Hudson, who had just finished top 5 in our B&F, and according to champion data has been one of the most effective ruckman in the league the last 2 years.

Earlier, the discussion was on the 2007 high list turn over. There was some suggestion that the list turn over wasnt voluntary, because of the players wanting out etc...

I may have gotten the wrong end of the stick, but i thought you were agreeing that the list turn over wasnt actually voluntary. This would be at odds with your stance on the Hudson deal, i.e. we let him go.

Geez, all this pent up hate and frustration. Are you sure you're not all in love with him?

looks that way :thumbsu:

I dont like the continual use of the word majority. That seems to imply that having 12 of your best 22 is a good position. Its clearly not.

As far as it goes... looking at the names...

Johncock- Missed two.
Otten- Missed 3
Stevens- Missed 2
Symes- Missed 3
van Berlo- Missed 2
Knights- Missed 2.
Burton- Missed 1
Maric- Missed one.
Sellar- Missed 2
Moran- Missed 3.

The last two obviously depend on who you rate as our second best ruck for who is in the best 22. (some may be wrong, just doing it from memory)

Still, missing 21 games from your best 22, only 3 rounds in seems significant to me. 7 players on average per game.... Im not sure what the league average for this is.

I'm going to focus on this bit. that's a very generous view of our best 22.

Burton's only missed one, so he shouldn't be on that list anyway. Maric was an emergency for round 1, and has played 2 so he shouldn't be there.

so other than Knights, Johncock & Van Berlo there isn't much to miss there.

as I just posted 8 out of our top 10 B&F have played at least 2 of 3 games.

I dont think so. I think virtually every player on that list, with the possible exception of the last two, one of which should qualify, is a legitimate best 22. As far as shouldnt be there... bloke you work out your own criteria. Im listing games which have been missed, hes missed one, he fits the list. :p

Whilst we're discussing criteria, why draw the line at top 10 best and fairest, or even 2 out of three games?

I like the best and fairest as a measure, but there are inherent flaws with using it as you are, i.e. using the top 10 finish as a measure of the top 10 players in importance, or quality. Not all players play the same amount of games, because of injury etc. It can mislead.

Are there only 10 players on our list that matter? Is having potentially 8 out of 22 a good situation? I dont think so.

I also still dont accept that playing is a demonstration of full health. There are people on that list you posted clearly under duress, with affected performances. I dont think you can ignore that simply because they pulled their boots on and limped around the field.

well when you want to want to look at importance to the team, its hard to come up with a better measure than the B&F. its the least subjective, it shows who was important to us last year. and if you want to claim how bad this supposed injury position is, not all players are the same. never have been. never will be.

2 out 3 = majority. mathematically speaking.

every team in the league has guys miss the odd week here and there, one game missing just isn't worth mentioning if you want to compare us to our opponents.

just out of curiosity, has there been anything from the club claiming these guys are injured? what basis is there for declaring that they aren't fit?

anyhow, new week. lets see how we go against Carlton.

Yeah, there has.

Tippett for instance was the topic of a news story, sourced from the club, talking about how he has knee tendonitis and it would trouble him all season.
