Thats the closest the aussies will come to taking a wicket. :rolleyes:
 
Umpire Illingworth has the Ian Chappel disease and was swayed to an LBW because Yasir was not playing a shot. The review showed it was nowhere near the wicket and was in fact hitting the top of the line of the pad.

Hazlewood to Yasir Shah, no run, given! Yasir reviews. All this needs to do is clip the stumps. That does not look out. Back of a length delivery outside off, nips back in. Yasir offers no stroke and is struck outside the line, redundant because he left the ball. Two greens on HawkEye, the most significant one being the impact on stumps, which showed the ball bouncing over the stumps. Umpire Illingworth got that wrong

His hands were just not in the right place. I've seen tougher taken with more ease. Should have been taken at this level

At the risk of repeating myself, you can stick your T20 cricket where the sun don't shine. You can't replicate the drama we saw today at the Gabba in any other form of the game. Long live Test cricket!!!

That was a lot closer than it needed to be. The Pakis are a very good batting side and they are only marginally below the Australians in the ICC Test rankings. In fact they currently sit at 102 pts which is level with South Africa. We should not underestimate them. The Pakis biggest shortcoming is their reliance on turning wickets. Leg spinner Yashir Shah is their best performed bowler and their pace attack is not as potent as Australia's.
 
Great fightback but the ending was a disappointment. The last wicket falling with one of the batsmen not paying attention to what was going on was not what I wanted to see. And it looked like they had given up when Shafiq got out.
 
Looks like Maddinson has kept his spot on the team, A handful of runs and a dropped catch is enough of a good game to warrant re-selection.

I'd say the selectors are marking time until Sean Marsh is fit again. Then again, if Maddinson reaches double figures in Melbourne, he might stay in the squad for India :-).

His inclusion would be a less bitter pill to swallow if it weren't for the fact that Maddinson's has done SWA but gets another go just because "potential" if he came from anywhere other than NSW he would have been kicked out the door after his first miserable failure in Adelaide.
 
Just to illustrate the enormity of Australia's task in February/March, check out the scores in the latest India v England Test. After bowling England out for a "paltry" 477, India is now 6 for 666. Some bloke called Karun Nair has scored a lazy 243 not out.

Safe to say that, as soon as the Australian summer is over, it's footy season, because the cricket in India will be rather painful.
 
Shit Karun Nair is only playing his 3rd test and scores 303 not out as India declared at 7/759 282 in front. Gotta be the quickest player to a Test triple ton. Bradman at Headingly in 1930 would have been playing his 5th test. Nope, Headingly wasn't at the start of the tour so its his 7th test. The Don made 254 at Lord's in his 6th. Of all those great Indian batsmen, Shewag is the only other one to get a triple ton, and like the Don and Lara he has 2 and his first was in his 21st test. Lara hit 277 in his 5th test in Sydney in 1992-93 and ran himself out. It was the only way he was going to get out.

Nair joins Bobby Simpson as the only player whose first ton is a triple in their test career. But Simpson did it in his 30th test after scoring 4 or 5 90's.

Edit Gary Sobers 365* was his first hundred in test cricket and in his 17th test, 4 years after his debut and he had only scored 6 50's before that innings, but he debut at 17 and was an allrounder batting down the order in his early career.

Starc averages more than any recent #6.

Pick Head ... he can bowl and has succeeded at ODI level for Australia.
