He's organised and has a solid defensive technique. That's it. 21 balls today and not once did he look to hit the ball off the square or even to nudge into a gap and turn over the strike.

Likewise, he bowls a tidy line and good pace, but rarely looks like asking too much of the batsmen.

Worth persevering with but not worthy of the hype he's had.

His first class record earned his spot IMO.

In state cricket. Whos the next young gun bat on the horizon?

One option would be to give Harris another crack at the opener slot and drop Will down to 5. There is no other 20 to 22-year-old making waves in the way that WP and CG have. Guys like Renshaw, Whiteman, Ben McDermott, Josh Inglis are putting up decent numbers.

bloody hell, gotta rely on the bowlers for runs again

Absolutely worthy of the hype. Will play over 100 tests if his body holds up.

scratch that, not even runs, just stay in while smith does his thing

Of course it did. But he hasn't performed yet.

Got to back them in if you think they are good enough. Lots of test batsmen over history have taken a bit of time to get going.(Martin Crowe from my side of the fence was terrible in his first 1/2 doz tests)

He's shown enough to get a few more games

What's the par score here? I am thinking 350 is the absolute minimum and over 400 starts to look good.
doesn't seem like the pitch is that bad, movement through the air getting it done, so yea if we can get spittin distance of 400 that'd be good

seems 300 is going to have to be enough cause it's unlikely we get much past it

why would the statistician pull up that stat? jesus

I still want a bowling AR at 8
Patto or Neser would be that. Both can hold a bat. I think Cummins is one place too high.

There can't be many test teams in history where a guy who takes test wickets at an average of 26 and a strike rate of 49 and has a batting average of 26 can't get a game.

They have enough to push them now.

hahaha holy shit smith is fun to watch

ChoppyGun what are your thoughts on this mate?

India's frontline bowling attack:

Jasprit Bumrah (178cm)
Mohammad Shami (178cm)
Ishant Sharma (193cm)
Umesh Yadav (180cm)
Saini (178cm)
Siraj (179cm)

I didn't think they were that short overall!

Ridiculous!

No way that is correct, not even close.

Shami is short but I think they need a new tape measure for the rest..........
