Here's a trade that's been bandied around a bit today, just wanting to get a few Dockers' fans thoughts :)

North trade pick 9 and Morrell to Freo, 24 to Essendon
Essendon trade Bolton to Hawthorn
Hawthorn trade Rawlings to North
Freo trade Croad to Hawthorn, Koops to North

North gain: Rawlings, Koops
North lose: Picks 9, 24, Morrell

Freo gain: Pick 9, Morrell
Freo lose: Croad, Koops

Essendon gain: Pick 24
Essendon lose: Bolton

Hawthorn gain: Croad, Bolton
Hawthorn lose: Rawlings

So effectively you are trading Croad for pick 9, and Koops for Morrell. Downside is you may have to pay some of Trent's salary. Thoughts?

Morrell would look shocking in a freo jumper and they should go for a draft pick.

Everybody looks shocking in a freo jumper.:p

Croad for pick 9 would be a definite win for us (although I'd prefer to keep him).
Koops for Morrell would be bloody foolish - Freo would definitely be on the losing end of that one.
Morrell to Freo would be okay, but not for Koops. Maybe a Thornton / Siegert type, but Koops is worth more than Digby. IMO anyway.

I refuse to buy him one. Let the little bugger suffer.

LOL...

But come on now, show your kid that you're bigger than that - that you respect his right to choose.
My son has decided that he supports East Freo - that nearly killed me. Took him to his first derby, aged 4 (he's now 7), all dressed up in red and white. Souths thrashed the living pant off Easts that day, but he came away an East Fremantle supporter. I was in chronic denial for the first couple of years, but admired his "pluck" and this year I ventured into the clubrooms at Moss St, cowered into the merchandise shop, bought him a scarf and high-tailed it out of there. I felt dirty for weeks.:o

Earlier this year his cousin from Kalgoorlie came to stay. Poor kid supports your mob - and my kid decided that he was going to "go for the Eagles" to be like his cousin.
That was too much to bear. East Freo is one thing, the Eagles is a different evil altogether.
I did the only sensible thing. I banned it. No eagles supporters allowed in this family. Flat refused to entertain the idea. Took him down to Freo training that week and he was hooked (thank the lord!!) - returned to the fold and is now so one-eyed Freo it almost scares me.... almost...;)

But if I can buy my boy an East Freo scarf... go on WCS, I'm sure your kid will look great in purple!:D

His grandfather has got to him and keeps playing the old "you have to support the underdogs" routine with him. I took him to an Eagles game and he wanted an Eagles hat and he picked out the Sampi 28 version which I thought had him hooked. He came away from the game wrapped and talking nothing but Eagles. Unfortunately he still insists on supporting the Dockers.

As the old saying goes "Purple and Green should never be seen" and his mum keeps wanting me to take him to a Dockers game. I would rather eat glass.

My step-father used to support Sth Freo but I was always a staunch Demons supporter. Murray Couper is still my idol. I was dragged along to see the Derby Grand Final in the seventies and saw the likes of Michael, Rioli and Big Bad Basil Campbell play. I swore I would never go to another Fremantle game again after my step father abused some poor East freo supporter for no reason.

If he wants Dockers stuff he has to buy it himself, but he has to go shopping with his mother to get it.

If they made Dockers toilet paper then I would buy it by the truckload. ;)

Well never fear then WCS... if he follows that theory he'll be back on board with the Eagles in another year or two!:D

Separately that's true, but if you look at it as Koops and Croad for Pick 9 and Morrell I think it's fair. Anyway, it's looking like it'll be Pick 10 from Hawthorn for Croad, with that pick being passed to St Kilda for Heath Black.

Under the new trade rules you can't on trade draft picks, meaning you have to use pick 10 in the Draft. This would mean it would have to be your pick 12 for Black.

Black's value has plumetted over the last season, not worth a first round pick.

It was reported that Fremantle rejected a straight Croad/Black swap, so if that's true I doubt that trade will happen.

And Black isn't worth a first round pick anyway. 2nd round at best, probably early 3rd round.

I will be very upset if we give up a first round draft pick for heath black, we could do with the experience but not at that price.

Spring6, the trade period is over.

We traded Croad to Hawthorn for pick 10 and traded Koops to the Bulldogs for pick 19, leaving us with picks 10, 12, 19 and 27 in the first two rounds of the upcoming draft.

A deal with us trading pick 27 for Black had been agreed by St Kilda at the last minute, but unfortunately the paperwork arrived after the deadline at AFL HQ.

Overall, I think we did well but I am extremely disappointed that we weren't able to receive Black for pick 27.

yeah thats a good years trading (and also a good two days trading too)

hey whats the deal with the trade rules changing? isnt the age limit rising by a year next year? doesent that mean that the same kids who dont get picked up this year will be in next years draft? therefore our 4 picks in two rounds will be very nice, thank you, and with the space in the cap left by croad the year after next, we can trade our first round picks to pick up a high profile, out-of-contract west aussie.

unfortunately we aint allowed to talk to them directly to ask them not to re-sign. mebbe connolly should make a statement early next year so any of them looking to come home will know they have a home in the red and purple.

"Hay, Hay, Hay, we arent naming any names at this stage *Coughlin*, but weve definitly got enough money for a flash new Carr for any new dockers recruit"
