Scott West had 27 touches in the 2's today and was BOG along with Higgins (good news for dogs fans). West's return would help Cross a lot but he may not play next week and probably wouldn't play too much in the middle anyway.

I'd rather pay his kinda money for consistent 80's then have someone who gets 100+ then 50/60's. This year has been too erratic.

I constantly hear people talking about, how with West in the side it helps Cross’s DT scores a lot, is what I found:

Cross’s average: 96.89
Average with West: 116.5 (4 Games)
Average without West: 91.66 ( 15 Games)

This show that yes when Scotty West is in the side that he does indeed effect Cross’s scores. 4 games isn’t a lot to go by but when you score 100+ only 7 times for the year and 3 of them come when West is in the side it still shows something.

Spot on Hirdy. Whilst this years sample size is not large Cross has also averaged 100 in previous years (excl injury last year) with West in the team so it does have an impact. West plays the in and under role whilst Cross becomes more of an outside mid behind the ball.

what the hell, he was on 63 on half time?
and blooody proud was on 20 at half time and gets 16?
please uncle milburn be back next week

bloody crossy! he was looking to finally have a 120+ game when he was over 60 at halftime.

he would be able to get over 30 touches a game if he actually wanted to. he plays too defensively, always getting back and manning a player. meanwhile little possession hunters like eagleton just sit back and wait for the ball to reach them.

I think Eagleton hangs back to get the possies because he has a slightly more penetrating kick than Cross...to put it mildly.

I just hate seeing Cross turn into a bunny in front of goal - I don't know wht he has no confidence to have a shot - though judging by his ordinary attempt on the weekend I guess you can understand it.

He will be a lot better with West back in the team, no doubt.

nah i totally agree with that, it just annoys me to see the guys that do no defensive work get all the touches sometimes. IMO eagleton's not a great decision maker anyway (from what i've seen).

It's obvious Cross has absolutely no confidence in kicking at goal. There was a game a few weeks ago where he could've kicked like 3-4 easy goals, and instead ended up kicking just 1 while dishing off the other 2-3, of which just 1 resulted in a goal (i think he gave it to Aker).

Either way, Cross' kicking CAN be ok. Like you said, he doesn't have much penetration, but still, doesn't mean he shouldn't look to get the ball more. I watch a lot of Doggies games and I can't stand Griffen, Ray, and Eagleton. Maybe I'm just being a moron for wanting them to do something different (like give it to my DT guys), but seriously, they only look to kick long and usually make crappy decisions.

Actually if you were a Bulldog fan those are the three midfielders (plus Cooney) who you want to have the ball. They run it through the centre and take risks. Cross and Boyd and even Scotty West don't have half the penetration of those guys. The quicker you get it into your forward line, the more goals you score. (I'm a big fan of Ray for just that reason, incidentally)

Anyone else see Scotty West in the VFL? He was playing on one leg. He's not quick anyway but geez it'd be tough for him to come back any time soon on that footage. He's already set to play for Williamstown again this week.

I also saw the footage, it didn't look good but after all it was his first week back and the condiitions didn't look great either ( Wet, Muddy, ect ) Should get another one or two games under his belt before finals, which should help.

Not good news for us DT fans. Scotty West playing two more games in the reserves my set him up for the AFL finals, but will be incredibly useless for the DT finals. :p

But with only 4 games at an average of 82 with a possible 30% discount to an average of 57 next year why would you want him to play the next 2 games.

remember we're talkin DT here :)

they usually kick to contests and the like. good for them for wanting to run and take risks, i say kick sideways to crossy!

Yeah I know and that's why I have Cross in my team and not the other three. I was just responding to your point about how they give the ball to those three more than Cross.
