Crowd for prelim

What do we reckon the crowd will be for the biggest final in Vic for many many years? and how many Geelong supporters will be there?

Both teams have a huge supporter base, Collingwood being the obvious.

We really need to get behind the cats and provide some voice. If the scum kick the first few, get on a roll early and 70,000 supporters with no front teeth get behind them, the cats might be in for a long night.

expect 90-95,000 at the MCG. I'm hoping 55+ are Geelong supporters.

i reckon around 92,000. we would be doing good to get 45,000 cats fans to the game considering they have so many supporters. im so glad the members get to all sit together. i couldn't stand sitting with collingwood ferals

Would if I could, but I can't so I won't. Will definitely be either watching or listening to it, or both.

Not only will this crowd be massive, but it will be almost wholly Geelong and Collingwood supporters, unlike the Grand Final the week after.

The atmosphere might very well be better this week than in the Big One.

It will be. That's exactly how it was for Collingwood supporters in 02 and 03. The atmosphere at both prelims -- even against interstate sides -- was electric. By comparison, the GFs were both a little flat crowd-wise, though the one-sidedness of the 03 GF no doubt contributed to that.

So make the most of the prelim.

I can't wait. This is the first time we've come up against a well-supported Vic team in a final since 1990. Will be massive. Hopefully AFL and MCC members turn up en masse and make this a 95,000+ crowd.

The prelim is the fan's Grand Final. Recent history aside, prelims are generally more exciting than grand finals.

yeah that would be the case normally, but coz its Collingwood they think that they own the ponsford stand so would probably want us down the southern stand end. i just don't want to be sitting near the ferals
