Toast Crows get a top 5 player at 27!

He looks to be a good player with a mature body who can compete at AFL level. Looks like he will become a bruising midfielder.

Wouldn't mind us doing something similar to the way we managed Brodie Smith last year (playing first 9 games - then resting for a month or two to freshen up and playing the last 4-5 games)... Playing 10-15 games will give him a real taste of the speed and toughness of AFL footy...

If he turns into the player he is capable we are going to have a very physical and tough midfield of Danger / Sloane / Thommo / Van Berlo / Kerridge / Vince / Crouch..... Will need a bit of outside speed (a la Mackay) to really compliment this group.

yeah, the upside isn't high.

It would be nice to let some players develop with out these highly optimistic calls but fat chance of that happening!

Sam's looked comfortable so far. I hope he gets to string a good amount of games together this year because he'll develop quickly.

Our midfield future looks bright though.

Good call, I foresee a Rising Star nom (and award), 2 Brownlows, 2 Norm Smiths, a Coleman Medal... not sure what will happen beyond 2014 tho.
I suspect he will put some time in the off-season to serving our country on foreign shores - from this stint a VC will eventuate. The Australian of the Year honors would follow just days before he is knighted.
All this will not prevent him for producing, directing, editing and being the subject his first documentary. Kerridge on Kerridge - A legends' Journey, Pt 1. Clearly Oscar nods for best Directing, Editing and Best Feature Length Documentary will ensue - as well as the coveted Palme d'Or at Cannes.
He will also make a guest host appearance on Australia's Funniest Home Videos (plugging his book - Kerridge: Pants Man) and be the first adult male to ride Nimble at the Christmas Pageant.
<Emperor voice>I have foreseen it. </Emperor voice>

I don't read much into pre-season games when you win by 77 points against undermanned opposition...

I remember Greg Dempsey looking very good in a pre-season game aswell..

How he fares in a few SANFL games will tell more of a story

Jeezes who made this thread? Premature call, talk about putting the moz on a player. A top 5 player? Wow, five years away from being that, and still no certainty hell play five years. Lets just hope he plays a few more good games this year, and doesn't turn shit next year ala Rhys Palmer, rich

Rich is not a bad player. I would love if could get the output of Rich from Kerridge. I think Kerridge will fare better as he won't be copping the number one tag every week.

I didn't see Palmer kicking bags of 6 in his first year. Sure, he was a big ball winner, but his kicking skills were criticised just as much then as they are now.

Just wondering where all the knobs are that kept on posting that Sammy had suspect disposal :p

Went at 27 possibly because he played in shite side - Bendigo Pioneers.

Top 5 not sure - probably would not go that far Big Future.

But he started his career as a forward and so can kick goals.

He can take a very good mark and he has some pace for his height.

Can play in a multitude of positions.

Has some real toughness about him and takes not shite from opposition. You will see this in time.

He would be enjoying playing around some good players for a change.

I know it sounds like gloating but he is very good up forward
