Woodville-West Torrens Vs. Sturt at Woodville on Saturday Afternoon on ABC TV

In the league game Luke Thompson has been named on a HFF for the Hybrids with poor old Trentshel dropping out due to a hammy. Aidan Riley should be continuing his good work in the back pocket for Sturt. Jarhann Jacky is lining up with what seems half the Port squad in the reserves on a Half Back Flank.

Port Vs. West at Alberton on Sunday Afternoon

Chris Schmidt should be the sole Adelaide representative starting in the Centre for the Bloods.

South Vs. Glenelg at Noarlunga on Sunday Afternoon

Shaun McKernan will be hoping to find a little bit of form for Mike Rann's boys in the Forward Pocket along with Myke Cook on the Wing. Glenelg will be Crowless due to Sellar's injury.

Brodie Martin is again lining up for Sturt reserves in the SANFL :thumbsu:
Had a servicable return last week, so let's hope he can improve back to his form of last year before his knee injury.

Half time at the WWT v Sturt reserves and the Eagles are up by four points 40-36, after a six goal second quarter effort.

Jarrhan Jacky has had a so-so start. His first quarter was not so good, especially his first kick, as he hesitated for way too long and missed an obvious lead from down the field. He improved in the second term and took a strong defensive mark after shying away from a similar contest earlier on. He's finished with 5 kicks, 2 handballs and 3 marks for the first half.

For Sturt, Brodie Martin kicked a goal in the opening term from a set shot 40 out. Playing mainly on the wing he scored a point from a long range running shot in the second quarter. He's had 7 kicks, 4 handballs, 4 marks, 1 tackle, 1 goal and 1 point to half time.

Full time WWT 9.4 58 Sturt 12.12 84 (reserves).

Jacky and Martin both had good second halves.

Jacky's main issue all day was his decision making and kicking. He probably had only two or three kicks hit a target. A few were really high and loopy and the others were just wayward. One of his poor kicks in defense led to a Sturt goal.

Martin only had two short spells on the bench today, compared to four last week, and ran the game out solidly.

The final stats I counted were:
Jacky 12 kicks, 4 handballs, 6 marks.
Martin 12 kicks, 7 handballs, 7 marks, 1 tackle, 1 hitout, 1 goal, 1 behind.

Luke Thompson is just wow!! The guy will play a lot of AFL. :thumbsu:

Jacky's disposal is absolutely awful. Thanks for the report CG.

Thanks guys, really appreciate the updates. Enjoy hearing about the young fellas more than anything this year.

Thompson was excellent in defence. Made some fantastic runs from half back presenting himself as an option and finished one with a long goal. Very promising!

Petrenko was very average. Looks out of form. Started forward and later went into the midfield and then defence. Still tried hard though and should be better for the run.

Thompsons stats anyone? Quite excited about this kid. May take a while but shows a fair but too

That doesn't necessarily mean we won't delist him.

With our rookies performing so well I find it hard to see a spot for him on the list.
For me, we already have 4 gone (the three retirees + Hentschel), so just depends on how many more we want to delist after this.

I reckon we will trade a couple of players, but yeh Jacky needs to go. It's a strong draft anyway.

Smack has kicked a goal and may have an ankle injury. Has returned to the field but has his ankle heavily strapped.

I don't even think Thompson will take that long, he just strikes me as the kind of kid who is mentally prepared to take that next step sooner rather than later. I'd be expecting to see him in Crows colours next season :thumbsu:
One thing I like is that a number of the posters who are talking up Thompson now are the same ones who were making positive noises about Henderson, even when he was kicking around in Centrals reserves last season. Early days with Hendo of course but he looks like a find. Obviously some good judges on our board so the Thompson-praise isn't just fan-gushing talk.

Dont' forget that two of those retirees are outside veterans. With the 4 changes you've outlined we won't even meet the AFL's mandated minimum of 3 draft selections.

Is that still the rule ? i thought a rookie upgrade can now be counted as one of the three
